It's Been Done

Some friends of mine have made it from Canada (Toronto) to Cartagena Colombia in their Nonsuch 30. The name of the boat is Wishbone. I don't have their new email address, but can say that their...

Precision 23

I owned a Precision 23 when I lived in Key Largo. It was great for its shallow draft (trunk keel/centerboard) in a place like the Keys. However, I felt that the boat was very lightly constructed. ...

For those on the board that have or are considering Bluewater Insurance, I feel obligated to report another, and hopefully final, case of bad service from them.

I have had Bluewater Insurance...

In The End. . .

Camaraderie,

In the end it seems that we are generally in agreement. If my boat were offered with the option of the underbody you describe, I would be happy with that as well.

As you say,...

Thank Camaraderie

Camaraderie,

Thanks for your reply as well. Yes, I recall Jeff H's post from several years ago.

I agree with Jeff H on most of his points regarding conceptual design. As an engineer, I...

Thanks

John,

Thanks for your comments and perspective. Your comparison to Pacific Seacraft is very reasonable.

In addition to what I said earlier:

1. Yes, older model IPs have concrete and...

Camaraderie,

I'm interested in your post. While I don't suffer the delusion that my boat is the best there is and that it is perfect for everyone, I did carefully evaluate all the possible...

Well said

Kwaltersmi,

You said, "I'll reserve my judgement about build quality and bluewater capabilities until I have a closer inspection and a chance to sail a couple of them."

Great idea. Do...

Here we go again. . .

You guys always crack me up with these comments.

IPs excel at liveaboard cruising in the Caribbean. I have seen more IPs out cruising than almost any other builder.

I wouldn't want an IP to...

Full Keel vs. Fin Keel

A point often overlooked with regard to keel design is that the shape of the keel affects the probability of impact damage.

While I can't argue the fact that a fin keel with a lead bulb on the...
