Fusing direct to battery connections - bus?

Hi All,

I have stereo memory and bilge pump hard wired and individually fused to my battery so they are "always on". I also have an AC charger and alternator running to the main battery, again,...

Re: Navionics - Lake Ontario/Thousand Islands

In the play store it shows $15 for me. Mine isn't an HD tablet. Though, I'm now considering using my iPad instead.

Navionics - Lake Ontario/Thousand Islands

Hi All. I'm confused and maybe someone here can give me some clarification .. never used any digital charts before. I would like to make a trip to the thousand islands from Toronto but I'm not sure...

Re: Cruising on a C&C 39

This is an old thread indeed but others like me who are researching this boat might be interested to know that Hubans did sail off with his family. I had the pleasure of hearing him talk about his...

Re: Low-Buck Dinghies- Lets See 'em!

I'm considering a D5 dinghy because the plans are free (http://www.bateau.com/proddetail.php?prod=D5#.UYki5atASqQ) and it looks easy to build. That Pippee is looking nice though.

Re: Raymarine ST40 speed transducer nearly sunk me

Also sorry for super ranty thread yesterday. I was convinced my boat was sinking and had been doing nothing but "boat launch stuff" for four days straight, all day, every day. Kinda wired.

Thanks...

Re: Raymarine ST40 speed transducer nearly sunk me

I used 4200 to bed the thru-hull and that's not what is leaking. The blank plug leaks too.

I think what happened is this: the hole for the thru-hull is located under the bow, right in the middle...

Raymarine ST40 speed transducer nearly sunk me

i followed the instruction to the letter. The transducer is leaking. I put in the plug, it leaks. The boat is in the water and I managed to get the leak slow enough that I can get some sleep tonight...

Re: Holding tank fittings - how much clearance?

Hmm .. so what keeps the 'bung' from coming out? I'm a little paranoid about fittings on holding tanks. The setup I'm replacing was a nightmare.

Re: Holding tank fittings - how much clearance?

Thanks!

Yeah, I have seen the sealand pickup tube but what I didn't understand was how to install it without an access port. The tank I'm ordering doesn't have one. So, let me make sure I...

Holding tank fittings - how much clearance?

Hi, does anyone know how much space I'll need above my tank for some 90 degree elbows? My holding tank will be in the bow under the berth and there won't be a lot of clearance above the tank where I...

Re: Feeling Foolish and Discouraged!

I was in the market for a C&C 27 when I purchased my last boat. I ended up with a C&C 32 but I looked at enough C&C 27s to know a good deal when I see one and that's just what came up today:
1975...

Re: Bleached water tank, still stinks!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I am planning on replacing all plumbing and either rebuilding the foot pumps (galley and head) or replacing. I'll be using PEX plumbing and fittings based on a...

Re: Bleached water tank, still stinks!

Thanks for the reply. My problem is not with algae, the tank is clean but the smell has permeated the poly, if that's possible.

Bleached water tank, still stinks!

Hi all. When I purchased my boat it had slime growing inside the water tank as the PO didn't use the boat for a couple of years and left water in there. Gross! The smell was unbelievable. After...

Re: "Tracer" MPPT controllers from China

That's enough convincing for me. It's the end of the season anyway, this project can wait until next year it's only one of many. I guess I need a holding tank more than I need a solar panel anyway!

Re: "Tracer" MPPT controllers from China

That makes sense, thank you. My problem is that I think an 85 watt panel is all that I'll be able to fit. My energy demands are very low right now so I may end up just going with Maine Sail's...

I'de be willing to bet it's the same thing from the same factory. If you haven't watched the video have a look.

Re: "Tracer" MPPT controllers from China

Thanks Maine Sail, I value your opinion. I will look into that. I've read your solar write up (thank you very much for giving us all that great info for free BTW) and I'm not totally clear on why...

Re: "Tracer" MPPT controllers from China

Indeed! A 20 watt panel will not be up to snuff, the 85 that I'm considering will... and it's half the price of the 20 watt name brand setup.

"Tracer" MPPT controllers from China

Hi All.
I've read Maine Sails solar howto and it's a great resource. I've read lots else as well. I keep my 32 on a mooring and I have two batteries for my bank. I only plugged in once all summer...

Every used boat will need work both repairs and maintenance. Like others have said, find one you can actually sail. Learn to SAIL first, then learn to restore and repair, otherwise you won't have a...

Re: Is there such a thing as a 3/4" NPT to 5/8" barb?

Wait a minute!
Really did not have enough coffee this morning .. the thru hull is 3/4"! Not 1/2". Jeez, my mind really only starts working properly after noon.
So if it's 3/4" and my hose is 3/4"...
