Re: Production Boats and the Limits

Not to mention that now they have a button on an eperb they can just push and a helicopter comes and picks you up if you get to tired.

Re: A little Pollution Anyone?

Oh I do enjoy swimming in the Hudson. Will take a dip off of Long Dock (though it is posted no swimming, they have steps leading into the water) and the River Pool, but it is opening late this...

Re: Getting Back On the Water

That looks like a great deal, and a good way to see if you will actually get out and sail. It would be nice to hear if boats are actually available, and if you go up to the Charter Membership I...

Re: Glue Gun Usage

I will say I get nervous whenever I see my wife get out the glue gun. I know something will be covered in fake flowers and look ridiculous. But at least she uses the low temperature so it falls off...

Re: To Chrome or not Chrome.....

I can understand that chrome would be lower maintenance, but the bronze looks so nice. I even prefer it with the patina over chrome but I understand not every one like the "rustic" look.

Re: visit Cuba

You know I keep on hearing that once they let Americans in it will be ruined. The rest of the world goes there now, and I don't think there will be a huge influx if Americans are allowed to go there....

Re: Messy fenders UGG !

Well Taylor has a lifetime warranty but I don't think cosmetics are covered.

Re: Sunfish Bottom Paint

Yes I would buff it first to see how it will come out. Otherwise I would do gelcoat. You don't need much and don't need a perfect finish but seems gelcoat will last the longest being dragged over a...

Re: Glue Gun Usage

Yes, the low temperature woudl likely melt in the sun in a closed up cabin. So stick with good high temp if you use it for anything. I have not had much luck with them sticking to things that are non...

I guess they suspended the search. What a shame.

Re: Swim Platform with Stern Hung Rudder?

Good old boat had one that someone used a folding shower seat. Looked pretty good.

I love this thread, it just keeps on going and going. This thread is why you should not close old threads.

Re: Universal Diesel Thermostat from CarQuest

160 degree is normally for raw water cooled motors right? To prevent the salts from precipitating out of the cooling liquid and clogging up the works. So perhaps the default was for the raw water...

Re: Live Aboard Marinas in Florida

Well if you are saying the boat "must be free" does that mean you don't have $10,000 to re-power it? Hydrolic steering will cost you several grand to get working again. Keep in mind this "FREE" boat...

Re: Looking for a boat of live aboard

Yes, but the only Santana 28 I found is listed for $2,000 so even at $495 you are talking 25% of the listing price (and likely 50% of the sale price) of the boat. On a more complicated and bigger...

Re: Looking for a boat of live aboard

Thing with a survey is they are going to be close to a grand(about $20 a foot + sea trial and possibly mileage multiple times to get there). So on a boat like a Santana 28 it might be overkill...

Re: Boat Shoes

I was at a Cabella's the other day and they had Body Glove barefoot shoes on sale for like $29, I should have bought them. I was on a road trip and did not want to spend any more money as I had just...

Re: Icebox insulation upgrade

Seems if you are going to go ahead and put a layer of foam on the inside you might as well drill a few holes to insert the straw of one of the low pressure foam cans into it. As you draw the straw...

Re: wifi reception

Well at least in theory it is in a DMZ outside your firewall and cannot access your network. They have to log on using there username and password and then are issued an IP address independent of...

Re: wifi reception

I would recommend using something like the Nanostation (various products at different price ranges Nanostation, Loco, Bullet, Bullet HP), rather than the Alpha unit. First there are lots of "fake"...

Re: Sweden Comfort 34

Does it have teak decks? If so they are likely past their replacement date and if you want to keep them it will likely coat more to replace them than the boat is worth. There are some synthetic...

Re: 2015 Sailing Season on the Chesapeake

Your garage? At least look at YouTube videos on how to rebuild the carb. That will fix most issues. If that and a new spark plug don't do it you can look for a shop.

Re: What a beach apparently looks like after a Sunsail flotilla has visited

Seems to me, the charterers should be billed for the cleanup just as if they had left the mess on the boat. While I don't think Sun Sail is responsible for the actions of it's charterers is the right...
