Re: GPS track for mobile apps

I have the Navionics and it works great on the iPad. One issue I had with it was when the battery was low, I plugged it in to recharge and for some reason it lost the track at that point but picked...

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

I dropped her off at 9:00, went by at about noon and they had the whole bottom, stripped and sanded already. They have the crew right now, it's slow.

Not sure if you are trying to suggest that...

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

Closer to two weeks.

Had the bottom painted, some keel repairs, keel bolts tightened, the deck repaired where a stanchion punched through, new stanchions... blah blah blah.... She had some...

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

I was worried about the fading too. They assured me that although fading is an issue with gelcoat, as long as it's waxed the paint doesn't have that issue.

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

Normally I wouldn't agree with the Orange. However, Phaedo, a Gunboat 60 is in the harbor now and was just re-finished a darker orange than it was, looks pretty sweet. No stripes though.

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

Yea, I like the darker too, I had the mast painted a couple of years ago a Corinthian Blue, a shade darker than Flag Blue. However, in the DuPont they don't have anything darker than the Flag (I...

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

DuPont Marine is what they are using. Don't think there will be any compatibility issues, they will be sanding it down and priming first so it should be fine.

I do like the Flag Blue the best at...

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

It's paint, the blue is getting sanded and the dings filled. I'm not doing the work personally but I'm sure they will prep and prime it properly. It's a reputable yard.

If it scratches they...

Re: latest and greatest binoculars?

Not sure of the model number but they were about $300 i think.

7X50 seems to be the standard for field of view for boating. More powerful and the image jumps around too much I guess.

Re: Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

By topside I mean the blue in the pic, the decks are white and light beige or teak. Although I've had her healed quite nicely, never been able to set foot on the side :D

Topside Paint Color - Flag Blue or White?

So, I've taken the leap and I'm painting the topside on my Islander 36. Currently it's a marine blue color, sort of a royal blue.

Trying to make a decision to either paint her the dark Flag Blue...

My eyesight sucks so anything that helps me see more clearly, I'm a sucker for.

I ended up buying a pair of Steiner Marine 7X50.

I know not in your parameters but the glass is crystal clear and...

The Sloop John B

Ha ha. Have no idea how I found this video.

IMO, only two guys can pull off this bathing suit, Tom Jones and, of course, Captain Ron. :D

Re: Untwisting jib sheets?

Damn, that seems like a lot of work for a line that's just going to have the problem again.

Sounds like a reason to upgrade! :p

Re: Untwisting jib sheets?

How about tying one end to the main halyard, and hoisting it up. Let it hang for a bit. Or tie a weight to the bottom to help it unwind.
