Re: Some people's children...

Language is fun :)

I like fokk, that's great. Hoist the fokk! Drop the fokk! Get the fokk out of here!

And sneiseiler refers to a Bermuda-rigged boat? My wife speaks a bit of Norwegian, I'll...

Re: Sailing in the North Atlantic

I've seen them several times in the northern parts of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin (never from a boat though). I remember once I was camping on the south shore of Lake Superior and there...

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

I checked at West Marine, bluewater-rated marine duct tape is $127.99 a roll, that would move the project out of the low-buck thread.

Re: Passage thru Panama Canal

Hmm. My wife must have the wrong master's then, all we have is a Catalina 22 and we won't be taking that through the canal or around Cape Horn.

Back to kind-of-on-topic though, are there any...

Re: Low buck projects- Let's see 'em!

This isn't exactly sailing related, but it is a low buck project.

My brake lights were out, so I just used a coffee can and one of those battery power headlamps. Whenever I brake the headlamp...

Re: Passage thru Panama Canal

My wife went to Columbia, just sail up the Hudson and it'll be on your right, no problem. It seems like a rather roundabout way to get to Chile though.

Re: Topping lift vs. boom kicker

It's like you've watched me sail!

Pull away from the dock nice and close hauled, then bear off to a beam reach and ease out the main and AACKKK NOTHING IS HAPPENING!

Re: Cockpit Draining - Below waterline?

I've wondered about that too.

On the new model Catalina 22 the cockpit sole slopes towards the back and and the cockpit drains are just holes through the transom.

My older boat has cockpit...
