The topping lift greatly helps tune & controls mainsail shape; mainly twist, and is a really really great asset in light aires, It's not just there to hold up the boom!

Weel good luck , there , I have a Bristol and they are well built, mine is a 1974 year and has no soft spots , no leaks, it is easy to sail , single handed, and can sail itself if you get the sails...

Well , did it work ? these posts were in 2008 , 4 years ago, I have a Bristol 26 , I'd like to be able to run down some inland rivers and will need to step my mast to do so . So did it work ????
