Why don't you close off the accessory drive. They have a tendency not to receive enough oil. Even a modification can be done so they do get enough oil. This forum tells you how to.

bixtool you will probably stall your engine. It's way too big if you do not have the gear reduction.
Pearson796 ,I recommend the CDI prop and they are not expensive.

His motor is AC I believe, direct drive, low RPM, and 48 vdc.
Today for the same price, you can get a higher hp.

There are some new ETEK 7.2 klw motors by Briggs and Stratton still for sale on the net for $500. Get a QD and two sheaves from Martin Industries, controller, throttle and you are good to go.

You don't need over 10hp, so an electric motor is an alternative. Golf cart technology, and conversions forums are good.
Raise the boats value instead of lowering it.

mainer 24, you have a Stream Stay furler. The parts are still available on the internet.
Mine was just freed up after non use for 10 years. It tooka lit of patience.
