As a fellow Merlin owner, I can empathize.

The cowl vent does pretty much nothing. All it provides ventilation to is the small area directly below it; doesn't vent into the cabin at all.

My only recommendation; try to avoid cutting into the bulkhead with this kind of job. Mounting a TV on the bulkhead is fine, mounting one in the bulkhead not so much.

I've seen a lot of boats...
