Outboard motor for dingy
For a 10''RIB, I would consider an 8 hp. You should be able to plane with two people and have plenty of power for adverse wind and wave conditions.
I used to have a 3.10 RIB and had both a 15hp...

Sabre 452 vs. J 46
I am a former J40 owner who went through the same decision process and ended up with a Sabre 452.
E-mail me and I''ll be glad to discuss my thoughts.

If it''s good advice to stay away from Hunters, I wonder how Hunter got to be the largest manufacturer of cruising sailboats in the US.

Cape Canaveral to St. Augustine
This is "Sail"Net, not "Speedboat"Net, isn''t it? You''ll need more than a weekend for this trip.
Last time I was there. about 3 weeks ago, they were still dredging the inlet. Contact the dredge...

Costs of Sailing merchandise
Jamestown Distributors has a limited range of items. Great on fasteners, paint and painting supplies, hardware. What they do have, in my experience, is priced lower than even Defender.

ICW and sailing
Paul,
You will have a sail as far as Norfolk, From there on, I motor most of the way with, depending on the wind, an occasional sail up for motor sailing. There are a few times you could sail if...

Standing Rigging
I went through a set of rigging in 4 years of hard tropical cruising. Just as important is to have the rigging inspected professionally, depending on the rig and your usage, at least every couple of...

Finesse-it works well but shouldn''t be necessary for the overall boat for a number of years (depending on your local conditions). I suggest you contact the builder. Perhaps they did not apply the...

Lots of reasons, but some examples are:
Performance boats are more likely to have flatter bottoms. More rounded bilge cruising oriented boats will have deeper bilges which can accept tankage and...

I have sailed an IP 38 and have many friends who are happy with their IP boats. I don''t think it''s quite as black and white as your post implies. If you''re into performance sailing, I wouldn''t...

Failed SUNSAIL Charter in BVI''''s - Strike Two!
I had a less than satisfactory Sunsail charter out of Tortola. I placed two calls to their US office upon my return. Both times I was told that a manager would return my call (although one person did...

The other two areas are on the West side of the St. Johns River. Ortega River has a number of yards and Whitney Marine, a few miles South, is the Hunter dealer and has a yard.
St. Augustine is...

My wife thinks that the SOSpenders cut is more
comfortable for women. BTW, West version, made by SOSpenders doesn''t feel as comforatable to me as the real thing.

From experience, I agree with the previous post regarding motion. Add to that my personal preference for performance and the carbon rig and light ends is an obvious conclusion for me.
There are...

You''ve been getting a lot of great advice, but let me add one thing that hasen''t been stressed here.
Don''t think of performance and light (but strong) construction as strictly an advantage in...

First, let me say I''m not a surveyor or naval architect. I did look at these three boats and ended up with a Sabre 452. If you''re interested in fast offshore production cruising boats, look at the...
