Re: Tankless Water Heater, CNG?

The last time I looked into a Precision Temp they were not "sealed combustion". In order to meet ABYC standards they must be sealed combustion.

Perhaps they've added one to the line up but the...

Re: Tankless Water Heater, CNG?

There are a lot of sleazy companies that lie and say they are made for use on boats when in-fact they do not meet the minimum ABYC safety requirements..

I don't know of a tankless propane or CNG...

Re: VHF Protocol

All USCG documented vessels are required by law to have a name and hailing port on the hull. I have never seen one that does not.

By what I see the majority of boats that ply the Maine coast, at...

Re: Yacht Specialties Steering Pedestal

The aluminum legs holding the cables un-bolt from the shifter housing. It is possible someone used 5200 on your shifter housing, and in that case some dynamite may work...;)

Re: Wiring & Installing A Battery Monitor

The wire for a Link-Pro should be twisted pair. If it is not too late perhaps return it and get a Victron BMV-600. It is much less money, easier to install and does the same thing....

Re: New alternator and DS issue

If you suspect it is over voltage related throw a diode in the + feed to the sounder. This will drop the voltage about .6V. If that does not do it throw two in series...

Re: Best per $ solar panel suppliers?

You did not buy "el cheapo" panels. Norther Arizona Wind Sun sells quality products. Some panels they sell hold up better than others in the marine environment but NAWS has the good stuff compared to...

Re: Alternator Output Wire

With an internally regulated alternator you really want the largest wire you can use that will result in the least amount of voltage drop. This is because they sense voltage at the B+ terminal on the...

Re: Best per $ solar panel suppliers?

I have specifically stayed away from buying panels on the $$ to watts scale....

I know the race to the bottom of the price market often results in less quality and it now appears the issue has...

Re: Bedding Deck Hardware With Butyl Tape

In experience you are ALWAYS better to seal the underside of the wood. If you don't this is where moisture enters and begins to lift the finish. Some of the higher end boat builders epoxy seal the...

Re: LifeCaulk vs. 3M 4200

I would be checking for "tracking leaks". These are leaks that track through the deck or between the deck and liner and come out at an area that is not at all where the water went in.

I had a...

Re: LifeCaulk vs. 3M 4200

This Sabre suffered from chronic chain plate leaks. The PO of the boat got so frustrated after re-sealing them almost yearly, with everything from 5200 to 3M 101, that he tried SILICONE..... This...

Re: battery availability at sam's club

When comparing the cost of 6V GC2's to L16's you can't discount the fact that an L16 battery has a longer cycle life than a 6V GC battery. Due to the sheer popularity and volume sold of the GC...
