Re: Software for wiring and plumbing diagrams

Open Office Presentation - who'd-a-thunk it? I'll give it a shot and let you know. I'm also trying open source DIA, but it's missing a few nice-to-have features.

Keep the ideas coming, and I'll...

Re: Dinghy Sailing in New York City? Possible?

Welcome to Brooklyn, assuming you make it. There's GREAT sailing out of Gateway Marina on Flatbush Avenue and you can beach-launch your dinghy from there. And a bus stops right at the door....

Software for wiring and plumbing diagrams

I have a couple of mid-sized sailboats to renovate and want to plan wiring and plumbing before I start. Also, when I sell one of these boats, I want to turn a set of diagrams over to the new owner.

I don't know the answer to your question, Nomad. I ended up putting in a rebuilt MD2B that just happened to be on Craigs List at the right time for the right price. The original MD2B is in my garage...

Surveyor recommendation mid-way between Annapolis MD and Norolk VA

I'm looking for someone to survey a Caoe Dory sailboat located in Lancaster, Virginia, which is about 2 from Annapolis and 3 from Norfolk. I don't mind paying travel time for the right person.

Any...

The verdict

Thanks for such a great reply, Med Sailer. There is much wisdom in your post.

I ended up hauling the boat, and doing a proper fiberglass repair. I had jumped into the water with snorkel, mask and...

Thanks - but I'm ONLY interested in working on this from the outside of the hull. On the inside, I have a plug where the engine mount is going to be reinstalled.

I'm going to dive down tomorrow or...

Nice idea

Only problem is, the plug is where the engine mount has to go, and so the current plug has to be removed. I'm donning my wet suit in the next couple of days to see what it looks like on the outside. ...

I like this idea a lot. I think this, combined with some underwater-curing marine epoxy, and I'll have a way to get through the season without hauling. And then after the fall haul, I'll go the Don...

Filling 3/8" hole in hull. Boat in the water.

So I was drilling out a broken bolt on an engine mount, and wouldn’t you know – I now have 3/8” hole in the hull. Who knew that the thick fiberglass cradle wasn’t anything like as thick as it looked!...

These prices are indeed similar to prices I've now received elsewhere.

However, I've just scored a rebuilt Penta identical to my existing engine for $1750 and I'm going to go with that. If I get a...

I sailed my old but new to me boat home this weekend, a Cape Dory 28, and it seems as though the engine top end is going to need some serious work.

On this trip, we overheated three times, and...
