One Final Picture of WindyWay

Well it seems that all things must come to an end... The mods have been all completed on WindyWay and documented here for your perusal. It's time for me to set sail to further shores and wish you all...

Re: Folding Berth Insert Option

Sorry about all of that. But it seems I may be leaving soon anyway.

When you do a reply, click the bottom button that says "Go Advanced" that should get you there.

Re: spirit 23 window frames ?

Your kindness far exceeds any expectations of this frugal sailor! Please do not. It's not that I can't afford to buy these frames I can, it's just like I said "I can't justify the cost". I requested...

Re: Folding Berth Insert Option

I'm sorry but I really take offence to these 2 statements!

In the first one you clearly involve us all in YOUR opinion. I think (my opinion) that this is NOT the case. If you edit the word...

Re: spirit 23 window frames ?

I just got a quote from Mark's Plastics. Although they can make the frames they only sell them with complete windows from $690 to $920 a boat set. I can't justify the cost since I bought the whole...

Re: spirit 23 window frames ?

I've sent them an email, & waiting their response. New would be best as they wouln't be as brittle.

Re: Folding Berth Insert Option

Not the one I want, I have that cushion. If you reread the initial posting, we're talking about the side berths. There is an option for folding cushions, that's why there is the wooden ledges on the...

Re: Spirit 23 modifications

Here is the mod I've done to the swing keel. Added a bit of weight and some SS to the leading edge & bottom. I didn't take a finished picture, but you get the idea. All the empty space between the SS...

Re: Centerboard Specs

My concern on doing this is that the foam provides an inner structure to the fiberglass "skin" of the keel. acetone will "eat" the foam alright but will the lead shot fill all the voids? I think not....

Re: Centerboard Specs

Pasting the lead shot needs to go on the bottom only. Did I say sides? My bad if I did. The micro balloons make the epoxy / lead slurry so it will keep it's form so you can actually mold the shape...

Re: Centerboard Specs

There is foam in it. Don't drill a hole on the top, the lead has to go in the bottom of the keel. See my previous post.

Re: Centerboard Specs

If you guys think you can pour molten lead in a foam centerboard and your going to do it...please please post some pictures!
I would not advise it though. Seriously buy some lead shot from the gun...

Re: Centerboard Specs

You're right about the weight if your talking about the lead in the bottom part only. The reason only the bottom has lead & the rest is fiber/foam is so that the board will remain down without being...

Re: any one carry a dingy ?

I use an Intex Seahawk II, fold it up under the companion way steps & pump it up on deck with an electric pump I carry when I'm going to use it. I also bought a bridle to tow it out the back so I...

Re: Windlass Installation

Update: The rode makes it down the pipe OK but when the rope pile gets high below deck is when it bunches up. All I do is move the pile then all is well again.

Re: Anyone run their lines to the cockpit on the Spirit 23 poptop

Nope no pictures, the mast has to be raised for that & the lines in place. I'm sailing next week maybe then.

Unhappy Re: Spirit 23 Swing Keel Cable Mod Dwg

A picture would be good. If it's just the outer covering there is a heatshrink that is available with glue on the inside that melts to form a watertite seal. Bought at any good electronic supply...

Re: Anyone run their lines to the cockpit on the Spirit 23 poptop

My lines are run back. 1 on each side, if you look under the pop top fwd corner there is room for a halyard under it. A pulley just forward of it, then it runs back to a rope lock just fwd of the...

Re: '81 Spirit 23 in Charlotte, NC

"...how you prevent the mast from swinging side to side as it comes up?"

I have a remote for the electric winch that raises the mast. I just stand at the base of the mast, push the button, and...

Re: '81 Spirit 23 in Charlotte, NC

I have a mast raising system under the title" Mast Support During Trailering" the raising system is also the supporting system while trailering. It uses no 2X4 & can be done alone with an electric...
