Re: Cathunk, gurgle, swoosh

Our 34 has always made the same described noise when reversing when you still have a little forward momentum. Thought it was a Max Prop thing but sounds like it will do it with any prop. My guess is...

Re: leak from rudder stock

If you can find someone small and limber enough to get back to the rudder post packing gland, try to just tighten up the bolts to compress the existing packing a little more. We had the same leak...

Re: Rear oil seal

Mission accomplished. Was able to replace rear seal without removing or lifting up rear of engine. Took me a bit longer than Dave's mechanic as I was hoping for a quick 2-3 beer job. Took me more...

Re: Got the air bleed blues

One more tip that seems to help. Close the fuel petcock at the tank prior to changing the Racor fuel filter. That will prevent the fuel lines from emptying into fuel tank when you crack the Racor...

Re: Rear oil seal

Dave, I was hoping to accomplish without pulling the transmission if possible like in your case. I have the seal and O ring on the way. Had a good parts diagram in the engine manual. The O ring goes...

Rear oil seal

We have developed a leak on our rear oil (transmission) seal. The fluid leaks out and then sprays 360 degrees in engine space when shaft spins! Yikes!!!
Does anyone have any experience replacing the...

Dave,
I like the way you think! Schedules and cruising don't mix well. Thanks for keeping up your website. I reference it often.

Re: Microwaves vs. Crealocks'...

Our 34 had the dish rack cabinet removed by the previous owner and the micro and coffee pot reside in that space now. I wired a dedicated receptacle to power both. Lots of unused space behind that...

Re: Removing Hot Water Heater

Brian,

Removing the HWH should be no big deal if you choose to do so.Your engine fresh water coolant is probably plumbed through it as a heat exchanger to give you hot water when operating engine...

Re: New Generation Anchor on the 37

If you go to the Rocna website under knowledge base, bow compatibility, there is a photo of Norstar our 34 PSC with a Rocna 15 on the bow roller. Fits like it was made for it.

Re: Fuel tank longevity

Bob,
We have a 1990 34 hull # 201 with the original aluminum tank. That would put it at 23 years old! Still visually appears to be in good condition. I think the main problem is boats that have...

Re: Kiwi Prop

I was hoping there would be enough space in front of the Kiwi prop to install a donut zinc on the shaft. I'm still on the fence on this prop choice but will need to do something soon. I may just put...

My 3 blade Max prop has served us well but is starting to give us some issues mainly due to wear. Cost for a rebuild seems excessive compared to replacing with some of the newer props out there....

Re: Autopilot PS 34

We installed the Raymarine Wheel Pilot model a few years ago and it seems to work fine. I believe it's rated for up to 16,500 # displacement. However, if I were to do it over again, I would go with a...
