Re: Spinlock PFDs

We really like the fit and feel of our spinlock PFD's. But we keep USGC approved PFD's near by in case we get boarded. We always use the crotch straps. Looking forward to talking to the...

Re: Pacific Strictly Sail, piles of B's going to be there!

You know, I think that is it. They tried to shove the stylings of a catamaran into the confines of a monohull. It sure seems that way to me. Again, that's just my perspective. I am sure there...

Re: Copper sheeting & CopperCoat anti-fouling

Thanks for the clarification, my bad. The subject matter just makes my head spin off.

Re: Pacific Strictly Sail, piles of B's going to be there!

IMHO
I find the Sense line very odd. The layouts are just not workable while sailing. I think the boat was meant to be moored off some dock in the South of France, never to see wind in the sails. ...

Re: Copper sheeting & CopperCoat anti-fouling

I have had Copper Coat on my boat for almost two years now. (really too early to tell though) But FWIW, it has been fantastic. I have a diver clean the slime off every four months or so. I had...

Pacific Strictly Sail, piles of B's going to be there!

Out on the dock they are going to have the new
Oceanis 31, 38, 41, 46, 48, and the 55. Holy cow!

If you are in the bay area, this a great show. We fly down from Seattle to attend most...

Re: Corrosion Reference Electrode and User's Guide??

Yes, I have one. I log the readings monthly, or try to. I am almost at the point of having a clear coordination between the reading and the health of my anodes. Every boat is different so it...

Re: Where should we retire with our boat?

Amen brother, exactly our plan!! But spending those five month in the PNW, same same.

Thankfully the State of Washington does not have income tax. I do wonder how long that will last. ...

Re: Where should we retire with our boat?

Our plan is to sail FL, Bahamas, Caribbean, seven months of the year and haul out during hurricane season. Return to the PNW during that time. We have literally been planning this for 15 years.

Re: How much do you use your Chartplotter?

Yup, the compute power of the plotter that sits between the ears beats any chart plotter.

Re: How much do you use your Chartplotter?

FWIW C-Map is now using Explorer Chartbook as source data for it's Bahama electronic charts and is using Wavey Line as source for T&C's. Those are both very good.

Re: How much do you use your Chartplotter?

The biggest benefit for us is the AIS and radar overlay in our chart plotter. AIS is great for catching the "go fast" cargo ships coming down the Puget Sound. They fly along at 20+ kts and it is...

Re: B45 Oceanis, added redundant bilge pump

Right, that is actually the fuse for the entertainment radio. Why they did not simply use the fuse system in the + bus bar is beyond me. That is on my list to fix.

Well I use a Spade, the original 3rd gen, not one of those poser knock off's. I prefer a sabre over a gun. And while anchoring I can hold my sabre in one hand and the windlass control in the...

Re: B45 Oceanis, added redundant bilge pump

I think you mean the pump photo not the last pic which is your standard SeaDog bilge switch. The pump is remote from the strainer and sensor.

Here is a better description of the Whale Gulper...

B45 Oceanis, added redundant bilge pump

I became so sick of the water flowing back into the bilge from the stock bilge pump (Rule) that I decided to upgrade to a high quality Whale diaphragm pump. I kept the Rule but ripped out the check...

Pearson 26. My friend had to spend the summer in Alaska on a job so he left his boat in my hands. He gave me a couple of days of instruction and then he left. I vividly remember my first sail...
