Re: Sacrificing virgins to pagan gods (sailing related)

Perfect, I have more virgin olive oil than I need. It even says right on the bottle "extra virgin olive oil."

Re: Whats your best bit of kit??

I *just* got one of those! Showed up in the mail on Monday.

I obviously have a much, much simpler boat than you, but even a little Catalina 22 has all sorts of nooks and crannies that you can't...

Re: Sacrificing virgins to pagan gods (sailing related)

Jeez, back in college pretty much every new apartment was broken in with a smoking ceremony. Didn't look anything like your picture though, and Dave Mathews music was always playing for some reason.

Re: Cruising the Caribbean With a Titled Vessel

Lucky! I've been envying your snow. We've had a week of unseasonably warm temps (well above freezing) so have sadly lost almost all our snow. Last Thursday a truck went through the ice on the lake...

Re: Scum and Stain Removal from Hull

I've never used On 'n Off, but it looks dangerous. Like, you'd want to be really careful handling the stuff.

This helped me a lot getting stains off my hull:

Re: Scum and Stain Removal from Hull

I looked into that a little bit and it looks like oxalic acid is safe. It occurs naturally in a lot of plants and breaks down fairly quickly once in water.

The sailing club I'm in uses Barkeeper's...

Re: Sailnet 2014 Lost at Sea

Did he have some sort of falling out with SailNet?

I see his posts a lot when I search the archives, but I think he was gone before I signed on.

Re: catalina 22 swing keel

You have to hook it to a laptop or a Windows tablet of some sort, and it may be a piece of crap, but for $22 it's hard to lose:

Re: catalina 22 swing keel

Thank you for your reassuring words, TQA.

I just ordered borescope/endoscope off Amazon.com for $22. I should be able to get a look up there. It's waterproof too, so I suppose if I really wanted...

Re: catalina 22 swing keel

The water in my lake...

Re: New Gen water ballasted anchor

You can use it for security and you won't have any need for guns. Also you will be unsinkable and will be able to cruise for $500/month.

Re: catalina 22 swing keel

Are you that relaxed about it? Maybe I should relax a bit too.

I'm nervous about mine. My plan for the spring is to figure out some way to lift the boat and drop the keel so I can inspect (likely...

Catalina 27 fire on Elementary

Anyone watch the TV show Elementary?

On tonight's episode they killed a guy by burning down the Catalina 27 he was on.

There were a couple bits that seemed odd, though.... They were led to him...

Re: Hockey where my boat was

I don't really watch pro hockey, but it's fun to go over and watch the pond hockey. They are having great luck weather-wise this year, the temps are right around freezing. Some years it's been far...
