Re: Boom bail P26

Thanks for the reply to the original poster, Rich. I have the same boat, same issue, and had the same questions. I ended up buying the Ronstan bail last year thinking that I could just bend it...

Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

I'll admit that I've been following this thread since its inception, and have read every post. After my one and only foray into attempting to have a polite measured discussion about an issue that...

Re: Outboard Engine Start-up Problems (fictional)

If you want to get real technical, you may wish to specify what make and size outboard motor is aboard the Grampian. I'm suggesting this because some motors have chokes, while others have primers. ...

Re: Annoying Halyard Slap

I don't know if this is a "better" solution or not, but I read the following suggestion someplace a year ago when I rewired my mast (may have been on SailNet, might have been in a magazine... don't...

Re: Yet Another Leaky Portlight Thread

I did EXACTLY the job you're about to do on my Pearson 26. The aluminum extrusions have the same channels and I used the kit from Catalina that you're referring to. It worked great, and I see no...

Re: The WTF challenge!

They look pretty messed up, but I thought I'd throw another idea at you. It might be too late for this if you've already gone the "vice-grip smash" route.

Penetrating oil for a day or two...

Re: Hello and I need help finding a trader

Well, I guess I have three choices now. I could answer with the same amount of hostility you did, I could completely ignore this and your future posts, or I can make an attempt at making things...

Re: So where the heck do you shower???

I used one once, but it killed my athlete's foot fungus and my pet head lice. I was really lonely afterwards..... :laugher

Thetford 550P MSD install - in progress

A couple folks had asked me to let them know how things went once I started installing the head listed above on my P26. Here's some things gleaned from my day yesterday that may be useful.

Re: Pros and cons for a double ender/Canoe Stern

My friend has a canoe stern, and he was extolling the virtues of that design to me at some point. I, of course, promptly forgot what they were because his boat's WAY out of my financial and...

Re: Evinrude 6hp 1984 - Starter Cable & Spring

I bought a 1987 Johnson 8hp a year and a half ago, and, without any outboard experience, rebuilt the entire bottom end, water pump, carburetor, and replaced the safety interlock and...

Re: Are there other active Pearson forums?

Welcome, and stick around anyway.. this site in general seems to have more traffic than anywhere else, and there's a lot of very helpful folks.

Here's a link to another Pearson-specific forums.....

Greetings, CoastLife...

Welcome to the beginning stages of adulthood. I'm saying/typing that with a big smile, without any malice, judgement, or sarcasm, simply because not only can I recall...

Re: picking a new motor for the job!

I don't know anything about Coleman outboards, but thought I'd chime in just because I, too, sail a Pearson 26. Mine has a mid-80's 8hp Johnson Sailmaster on it that I went through with a fine tooth...

Re: marine head vs. porta potty

We did the same thing in our '72 P26. It had a smelly bladder holding tank and a non-working HeadMate in it when we bought it. Ripped all of it out and replaced it with a Portapotti 550P MSD. It's...

Re: Sail purchase options

I bought new sails for my '72 Pearson 26 from . The sails were Rolly Taskers, and the rep I dealt with via email and telephone, Jim Johns, was very helpful, very quick to reply,...

Re: Staining birch to match interior PCS

I just finished installing two new compression posts, a new crossbeam (which supports my deck-stepped mast), and bulkheads in my Pearson 26. The posts and crossbeam are constructed from white oak,...

Re: Very n00b questions from a prospective sailor.

To the original poster...

I think we're probably pretty similar; I've always learned by doing. With me, however, that's always been hampered/tempered by an almost unhealthy obsession for...

Re: Fresh water for toilet

I'm really new to all of this, but I just bought (and then returned) a Jabsco manual pump toilet to replace an aging, leaking, non-functioning Wilcox-Crittenden Headmate (rebuild kit $70) with a...

Re: Lack of Confidence

I think you're reversing the terms "series" and "parallel," unless they're different in nautical electrics. Batteries wired in series, i.e., positive on one battery to the next...
