Re: Advice for first-ever passage through Kent Narrows

Beware when the current, tide, and wind are pushing the same direction. We did a few "fly by" approaches before the bridge opened and needed every last horsepower to avoid a pylon. 15 knots of wind...

Re: Are sailing schools worth it?

Sailing is a hands-on sport. Books and classes are great but you need the time on the water to fully understand the information and develop skills. If you plan on day sailing and coastal cruising,...

Re: Finishing brand new teak cockpit table

I just used Semco Teak Sealer on my table. Protects the wood while keeping the wood look. No glossy mirror finish and it wears away nicely. Probably will have to apply twice a year

Re: Autopilot Install

Took the boat out for the first time this season. Went through the dockside and sea trial setup wizards on the P70 and all went well. The SPX-5 held a nice course under sail and power. Louder than I...

Looking for clever solutions to keeping humidity out of the boat whiles it's not use. The wife wants to leave a humidifier on and running but leaving AC power on while unattended makes me nervous.

Re: Drilling out stainless steel screws :(

I just had to remove a bolt from an alternator bracket. Slowly drilled a pilot with a bit roughly 1/3 the diameter of the bolt. Used reversed threaded drill bit to back it out. In my case, it just...

Re: Oil pan for Universal Diesel

I have a Universal M-18 and my oil stick is stamped with Z500. I was under the impression that the M-18 was the Z600 block. Just to add to the confusion. The drain plug on the oil pan is fitted with...

Re: Low coolant level

Have you taken a sample of oils and had it analyzed? If you can't find a leak external to the engine, there may be one internally. Coolant in the oil is how the internal leak will show up.

A block...
