Re: Cabin comfort when motoring

My first keelboat that actually had an engine was powered by an old Volvo MD6 that was simply bolted into place and with bugger all soundproofing. It was all I could stand to start the damn thing and...

Re: Question: Do you close your seacocks when leaving the boat?

I notice that on many modern vessels all the sea cocks are grouped together in one area. I'm not at all sure if this is a good idea or not. Seems to me that keeping them close by, though less...

Re: Question: Do you close your seacocks when leaving the boat?

Definitely close them when leaving for more than a few hours but not if we are just going on shore for a meal or to do some shopping. Exercising the seacocks is for the good and it only a minute or...

Re: New Site - Sailcraftdata

Certainly on the face of it the new site is simply a copy of the original and that alone is cause for concern. It's not really our role as Mods to adjudicate on this but I am removing the link to the...

Re: Swan 41 vs CT 38

Offset companionways have always been a tadge odd in my eyes. Very much from the inside out. That ladder in the Hunter ... oh my. Maybe Passport and Mason also used to do the offset thing. Made for a...

Re: Swan 41 vs CT 38

Was the first CT38 from Bruce's post also Asian build ? Taiwan ? Hong Kong ? I don't know where CT where/are located. It was the first version I was commenting on.

Re: Swan 41 vs CT 38

Bloke in Sydney we occasionally share an anchorage with has one of the Swan 41s of that age and yep she is a fine boat and he loves to sail her but still I'll stick to what I said earlier. For...

Re: Swan 41 vs CT 38

Interesting. Remember i've not seen either in the plastic.

For cruising purposes I'd take the CT but teak deck ?

That said .... teak deck on a boat that old freaks me somewhat and then the...

Re: Are we in over our heads?

I'm pretty much in agreement with those on the side of "just go" though maybe time of year is the main concern. Shame the OP couldn't have made a move a wee bit earlier ? (I am no expert on US...

Re: Anyone playing the Volvo Ocean Race game?

Played one a couple of years back, actually managed a finish in the top 1000 but it is way too time consuming to ever do it again. Must admit it was great fun.

Re: Tasmania - She even has a Wombat Cove!

sctpc ...... well we have had the odd cog in the works. Our boat was struck by lightning which took out pretty much every bit of electrical gear on board. For reasons that I won't go into in detail...

Re: Quarter Berth Conversion

Alex,
I prefer our v-berth cos it has more headroom but I take your point. For single night coastal you can get some rest pretty much anywhere. I've slept quite soundly at sea in a v-berth...
