Re: Sewing Machine onboard... Which one?

We carried our Sailrite LSZ 1 for 3 years in the Med and never used it. I found that wherever we went we could find sail repair shops, and so to spend the time to set it up didn't ever seem worth it....

Re: A Sinking in the ARC fleet

So is this thread's headline "A Sinking in the ARC fleet" in jest? This had nothing to do with ARC, right?

Re: Need new quality Cruising Sails (PIN THIS REPLY)

Re: Need new quality Cruising Sails

I got a quote from an area loft that was about the same as what I had from Quantum 3 or 4 years ago. I'm not sure which would be better - of course it depends on the local loft's abilities - but...

Need new quality Cruising Sails

Interestingly I am posting this in the "General" section - couldn't find a section specifically for sails.

OK, I'm nearing the lifespan on my mainsail (10 yrs+) and am considering getting a new...

Re: Joker valve advice needed....

Cooking oil sounds crazy, but it can make a pump work much better.
It sounds like a Greek salad, but Oil and Vinegar works.

Re: How Big Is Your Dinghy

Towing is not a good practice and is out of the question in blue water. Davits are a bad solution for blue water also, so that limits me to short inflatables.

The one thing I would demand if I...

Re: Beware..Pirates of the Caribbean

I hope that issue gets nipped in the bud. It will be really bad if that type of crime (armed boardings) spreads in the Caribbean.

Re: Expiration dates on Meds.... medical expertise anyone?

Sounds kinda like everyone agrees... For the most part expiration dates are arbitrary.

Now they put expiration dates on beer and I know that's bogus. Some of my first experiments with it were...
