Looks like this is the way to go. Great idea of adding a hoist mount also, we need one. I do have access to scrap aluminum and a good fab shop. Time to go take some measurements.

Dremel tool, cut a grove in it and pop it with a small hammer and chisel. Butane torch would do the trick also but might catch your boat on fire when the rubber takes off, so ignore the last idea. ...
