Re: Coast Guard Documentation process times.

There used to be a reg requiring you to turn in the document when the boat was sold. There was also an $x/day fine for not complying.

I'm not sure what happens today.

Re: Own your own 'Dockominiums' in Fort Lauderdale

Come on. This has nothing to do with you or the kind of boat you have.

These yachts exist and provide jobs and economic benefits wherever they are.

This isn't about class warfare.

Enjoy what...

Re: Own your own 'Dockominiums' in Fort Lauderdale

This is a great boon to the area. These spots are needed and I expect they will sell out quickly.

The marine industry in south Florida is a real industry unlike most parts of the country. Miami...

Re: Can anyone give me a valid reason to carry a firearm?

Seriously??

I said nothing that wasn't factual or even in dispute and I said it politely in response to the previous comment as information only.

I also made it clear that I wasn't posting in...

Re: Can anyone give me a valid reason to carry a firearm?

What many refer to as the "gun show loophole" actually is not specific to gun shows. ALL dealers who sell guns to the public are required to have a Federal Firearms License and to perform a...

Re: Boat Loan

Right now it is difficult to finance a liveaboard. However, if you have your GF's house then that might make a difference.

It is pretty much impossible to predict what the financial market will...

Re: small boat BVI

Search on the Virgin Islands website.

There seems to be 31's and 32's.

Re: small boat BVI

January 1989 I chartered a Nonsuch 30 in BVI for a week. My GF and I had a blast.

Back then you anchored every night and we had no problems. It was pretty windy then.

Re: Performance question - '80 Hunter Cherubini 37 cutter vs '82 Morgan 382

I notice that it is common to designate certain Hunters as Cherubini. I suppose that takes some of the sting out of the Hunter brand? Are these boats constructed differently than say, a Hunter Legend...

Re: Possible 27' Bluewater Boats

@SD

Hijack alert!

I was channel surfing last night and watched Falling Down which I hadn't seen in years.

Made me think of your Avatar.

Cheers.

Re: Really, $1000.00 for foulies?

I bought my HL set on sale in 1988 for $500. Night and day over the WM stuff I had bee wearing although I imagine WM has come a long way since then.

How about sailing boots? There is a product you...

Re: Boat Loan

If you read any of my posts you will see that I am not a nit picker.

What you posted was wrong and left uncorrected would mislead others who might read it later.

Maybe there is a lesson there?...

Re: Boat Loan

Wouldn't trust Boat US? Boat US was a major player in defeating the proposal to take away the deduction.

Boat loans have been deductible as first or second homes for many years.

Re: Boat Loan

Absolutely untrue. Look up a few posts and you will see what Boat US has to say about interest on a boat loan. It's treated just like a mortgage. There are caveats based on the number of mortgages...

Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

Pass away.

People buy boats (and cars) for lots of reasons. The thing is that there is not just one "acceptable" reason.

Enjoy what you do for your reasons for doing it and others will do the...

Re: RI Broker?

The 6% selling side of the commission on a 40k sale is $2,400 of which the broker gets half or $1,200.

$1,200 doesn't allow for a lot of time or travel for the broker who pays all of his own...

Re: Production buckets and the limits

Keep in mind that selecting your bucket is just the first step. You must also determine the best way to anchor it.

Re: Production buckets and the limits

Now you are talking about cans which are definitely not buckets no matter what you read in sailing magazines.

Re: So where the heck do you shower???

Built in stall showers also work great if you have one. You can even use a solar shower with them by leading the hose through a port. To each his own.

Re: Downside of living aboard

If you are only selling your book in the UK then it appears that your terminology will be fine.

If you are targeting a broader audience then substituting sailboat for yacht might have some merit....
