Re: Pictures of trailer launch, and a surprise

Very cool, thanks for sharing. You only have to forget the pigtail thing a couple times before it becomes automatic. :)

Re: Bird nests in the boom

Thanks All, I like the sponge idea; actually I like the "sail the boat more" solution the best. Alas, I have a long drive to the marina so only get the pleasure of sailing on the weekend. ;)

and...

Bird nests in the boom

The end of the boom on my Beneteau 361 does not have a cap on it, and I think it's designed that way. Is it customary to have the end of the boom open? The reason I ask is because I had to stop a...

Re: Deck stains

I'm interested in seeing other replies, but what I use based on seeing/asking what dock neighbors do is mix up a water/bleach mixture in a spray bottle. That works very well. We get normal bird...

Re: Replacing Adler/Barbour Fridge components

Good idea, Stu. I'll see if I can find his email address and I'll reach out to Mr. Kollman.

Re: Replacing Adler/Barbour Fridge components

Thanks all, I definitely want to size the unit appropriately for the space being cooled, which is about 6 to 7 cubic feet. That's why I'm leaning now toward the VD-153 evaporation which cools up to...

Re: Replacing Adler/Barbour Fridge components

Thanks Wcoast sailor, that sounds like a pretty good option. It seems expensive compared to the Dometic components I've been considering, but if it's really as easy an install as they make it sound,...

Re: Replacing Adler/Barbour Fridge components

Thanks all, I'm not really interested in changing the cabinetry, but would like simply to pull out the old (broken) and put in new with the existing fridge/freezer set up. The Kollman Marine website...

Replacing Adler/Barbour Fridge components

Hi All,

When I bought my boat last year the fridge/freezer was non-operational. It hasn't been a big deal because my wife and I just weekend cruise, but I'm at the point where I'm investigating...

Re: Do you play music whilst sailing?

not while sailing, but at the dock or at anchor we listen to music. It all depends on the mood we're in as to what type. I do have an entire play list of "sailing/boating" music though. :)

Re: Suggested replacement batteries

Thanks again, Maine Sail. I'm sorry if I came across thick headed there, but it's only because my skull is so thick. ;) I get it eventually.

Re: Suggested replacement batteries

Thanks again, Maine Sail. I misunderstood about the Crown (or any other 4D's), not actually being deep cycle. Let me ask you this, would two 6 volt deep cycle "golf cart" batteries when joined in...

Re: Suggested replacement batteries

Wow, Maine Sail, thanks for that. I did not know that about Interstate batteries. Back to the drawing board, I suppose. I did talk to the Crown Battery rep today and he suggested Crown's 4D "deep...

Re: Suggested replacement batteries

Thanks All, I did some more research yesterday and found that the Interstate Battery store has 4D deep cycle batteries for about $200 each, with more than 1300 CCA and about 230 Ah. So I think I'm...

Re: Suggested replacement batteries

CaptTB, according to the spec sheets from Crown Batteries, the 4D quoted is listed as a starting battery; it doesn't even show amp hours. Whereas the 24T battery quoted is shown as a Marine Deep...

Suggested replacement batteries

Hi All,

I posted a week ago about how I inadvertantly ruined my batteries by storing them improperly. So I inquired with my marina's service center about getting replacement batteries installed....

Re: Dead batteries?

Re: Dead batteries?

Thanks all. I took a reading on each battery three different times, and I tried to make sure I had really good contact; so yes, I think those readings are correct. I did not know I was supposed to...

Dead batteries?

Okay, totally noob question, but it seems crazy to me that all three batteries would be dead. I have 1 starter battery and two (large) house batteries. I'm still learning how to monitor/maintain...

Re: Senior moments .. what's yours?

Ugh!! So many snafus, and I'm only 43. What's it gonna be like when I'm 73?!?!?! I've done many of the ones already posted, and hopefully won't do any more with catastrophic consequences. Thank...
