Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

Here's what we are doing.
No way to rent a trailer from U-Haul driving a Ford Explorer; went and visited 2-3 of them and they all were adamant that they would NOT rent to an Explorer. Could be less...

Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

Fair enough but when you make the reservation and answer the details on vehicle type "honestly" then the buttons or options that come up after you click next become fewer and fewer....in essence you...

Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

Hmmmm???? Yes this did cross my mind and a friend has a GMC Yukon (oh and BTW the smallest 4'x8' is all I need) and the Yukon gets excluded from small trailers but the Jeep Cherokee was good to go??...

Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

Tim,
thanks I'll investigate that as the Rental Car can be cancelled up to the last minute.

Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

Latest solution. Brilliant wife is booking with Budget RAC at local airport (RDU) for a one way to Ft Myers with a "one way drop off" 2 days for ~$210 plus gas on a Dodge Caravan. This will...

Re: End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

The truck/dolly combination is upwards of $850 and then gas. For that I can ship the stuff. Hoping to bring this in for less $$. For the trailer I think I need to get license and registration. ...

End of the trip, now what....too much stuff?

OK,
so we've sold the boat and unloaded all our "stuff" at my sister's in North Carolina. Now we need to get to the Naples area in Florida. Problem is we have our "stuff" from a 43 foot boat and...

Re: Hi-Volume air filtration aboard for cat hair?

I ended up with a Honeywell home filtration unit from Home Depot, a 525 I think. It is just a big motor/fan in a drum with a huge HEPA filter and a pre-filter. Consumption is fine when the engine...

Re: Returning from Bahamas, need Marina in Melbourne area

All, thanks for the info. I had Cape Marina referred to me by friends in the Exumas who use the yard. Good to see an additional endoresement. I'll call them tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, was off...

Returning from Bahamas, need Marina in Melbourne area

All,
back in the states soon and could use a recommendation for a haul-out, some DIY, and some service work from a marina in the Melbourne Fl area. My vehicle is in the area so after I get that...

Re: 12v Fans......?

Thanks for the inputs, seems that having to go with the higher cost "marine" option just pays off. Looking at other fans at 1/3 the price it seems you just get a mixed bag of fans made in china with...

12v Fans......?

All,
tried two searches IRT "fans" and came up with no results in Gear&Mx or Crusiing/Liveaboards?

Last fall I grabbed a 12v clip on RV type fan from Wal-Mart and put it in the kitchen over the...

Re: Hi-Volume air filtration aboard for cat hair?

Tim,
really looking for the "portable" solution so no duct work. This "filter" will grab what ever it can based on entropy and movement of air in the boat--trust me the hairs do fly ALL over the...

Hi-Volume air filtration aboard for cat hair?

Morning All,
we are living aboard with two cats and the cat hair is a bit of a challenge. It occured to us that with the strong summer sun we are leaving a lot of power on the table everyday. I am...

Re: Long Range WiFi -- Posting right now using "long range" wireless

I think ten days is too short. Suppose you don't live on your boat, need a weekend to install it, varying conditions to evaluate it. I think 30 days for a marine product is fair.

Re: Thumbs up for 303 Fabric Guard!

Foam roller over spray bottle, better control and application. My wife literally paints it on and rubs it INTO the fabric.

Re: Thumbs up for 303 Fabric Guard!

Copacabana,
we bought the boat after it sat for nearly two years, would guesstimate the canvas enclosure at approx 10 yrs old. When we got the boat the canvas was just a sieve for the rain, would...

Re: Veterinarian near Lake Worth, WPB for Bahamian trip

Rich, thankfully there are those vets and others who can see and "help" in overcoming this myopic bureaucracy. Otherwise how could we work this particular issue for example. Most likely legislated...

Removing Can Labels for roaches or bugs?

OK, I've searched some recent threads on provisioning in order to find the answer to my title and no luck. It is clear that cans stored in damp places will lose labels, that a sharpie is good...
