i dont find it hard to cast. at least alloy. its just time consuming. i spent a week making one and im not finished yet.

Alloy is melting at 800 degrees C, cast iron you have to add 400-500 degrees. which i dont have equipment for (im using a tempering oven to melt at the moment)

been busy making porthole. Since the lathe is only 11'. and the outer rim of the portlight is close to 30cm. A little hard to shape.

Yes. but it will soon be more advanced. since we need 20 pcs it will be good to find a way to cast this more or less in one piece with ears and everything.

Really hard to calculate. some 5000-7000 hours of work totally. 5 tonns alloy. 20 big tanks of argon. maybe around 1 ton pine totally (incl. cutoff) 6 ton scraplead....

hi, i agree it will be faster and probably cheaper to ask someone else to do it.
That goes for everything in a boatbuilding process .
So we rather stick to making stuff ourselves.

Its not that easy, so we need some mroe testing first. Since we need 20 of them in different size we hope it would be easier to learn to cast ...
