Re: Friday morning game

I have sold marine electronics and marine safety equipment online for a number of years now. There is a standard email scam message that keeps on surfacing year after year....I mean, where do they...

Re: Marblehead to Hampton, NH

Hi Tom,
Nice trip either way. If the sailing is good with winds from West or South, I'd go to Rockport and spend the night in Sandy Cove if you have a dinghy, or in the harbor if not. Call the...

Re: Hell Gate

[/QUOTE]I also agree the the area under the bridges between Manhattan and Brooklyn is more of a "white knuckles" part of the trip than Hells Gate. Those ferries go like bats out of hell and the...

Re: Multi-hull capsize anti turtling device (mast float)

I don't remember ever capsizing while on a catamaran. It's ALWAYS been a pitchpole and flop over on one hull - look to see what happened to the crew on the trapeze, usually not good - and then get...

Re: Multi-hull capsize anti turtling device (mast float)

Thanks for all the good input. I had been sent info on the Secumar and was wondering if there was an alternative available in the states. Already saw the mast Bob from Hobie...simple solution but...

Post Multi-hull capsize anti turtling device (mast float)

I am seeking information on catamaran / multi-hull masthead floats. Have found limited info via internet searches. Specifically foam shapes that go on the top of the mast. I was looking for more...

Re: Full vs partial battened main

Have two years on a Rolly Tasker fully battened main. Very happy with the increased performance. We actually have to use a winch now sometimes to pull it in. Service was great, price ridiculously...

Re: Went to the boat for a sail..and its Flooded!!!

It happens to all of us. I'm not buying the "out of sight out of mind" comment of having a good sized bilge though. The only thing not having a bilge buys you is a wet floor and whatever happens to...

Re: Rigid Boom Vang

Having just learned the hard way. I can tell you the weak link is the boom vang end fittings. Keep in mind with a rigid boomvang pushing up on it, the gooseneck needs to be able to keep the boom...

Re: lazyjack boom attachment

I recently installed lazy jacks with the same reluctance to putting any new holes in my boom. There was a good diagram on SailNet describing how to make them yourself that I followed. An added...

Re: Can't find Mast Sheaves replacement

Thank you to all for your suggestions of where to purchase new metric mast sheaves for my Dufour 31. As it turned out they were a custom size. I got close to what I needed from Rigrite, but they were...

Re: Can't find Mast Sheaves replacement

Thanks for all the suggestions. SloopJonB, the axle holes are the only unworn part left, likely because they are already fitted with an integral bushing. The outsides look like they've been gnawed on!

Can't find Mast Sheaves replacement

I need to replace the 4 aluminum mast sheaves on my Dufour 31. They're so worn I'm surprised they even spin. Each measures 55mm x 15mm x 13mm as best as I can measure. Can't find anything close to...

Agreed, Stu. But then you'd have to purchase and wire in the controller in addition to just the panel. There are weekend sailors who might only care about charging when they are onboard, and it is a...

Volvo MD2010 won't bleed

Hi,

Just back from a cut short weeklong cruise because the engine will not run past about 16 to 1800. It would run faster but only for a little time. Being only 8hp to start with that equates to...
