Re: Wrapping a Steering Wheel

The wheels in all these pics look great. But, I think the best wheel cover is from Colorwheelz. It is a vinyl covering. You send the wheel in (they have excellent directions on how to box the...

Re: VSC saved me from CG boarding

I did report the actions and it went no where. I still have the original boarding sheet. That is the problem. They are not accountable. No other agency regularly stops and harasses people like the...

Re: VSC saved me from CG boarding

I used to think the CG was a good and helpful agency. Now I could not disagree more. About 8 years ago I was out sailing on Lake Michigan with my wife, two daughters, and my parents in their late...

deal breaker

For me the lead vs iron was a dealbreaker. I was looking at new Catalinas vs new Beneteaus. The Catalinas have lead keels, and the Beneteaus I considered had iron. I went with the Catalina and...

Interesting that you're not really interested in a Colgate 26. I owned one for 5 years and it was a nice boat. Definately over $12k. But if you want a secure boat with a huge cockpit (bigger than a...

Well, on my original post I was strongly leaning towards the Flex-O-Fold. And I continue to hear good comments about them. I've talked to my boat dealer, and he has put them on a couple of boats...

Folding prop question

I'm buying a new 28 foot sailboat (for daysailing/cruising), and it comes with the usual fixed prop. I've been reading up on folding and feathering props and am leaning towards a Flex-O-Fold 2 blade...

first keelboat

How about a Colgate 26. Its a great little keelboat. Big cockpit for the family. You can race it. They are well made and unsinkable. They resell well. Only drawback is a small cabin. Not sure...

Camry of boats

One thing I find amazing is that there are not a lot of boats that are currently made that fall into that size range except Catalina, Hunter, and J Boats. I would think to qualify for your "Camry",...

Recommendations..

I would recommend against a FS. I had one years ago and found it to be a fun boat to sail, but everything on it was very old technology. Also, if you capsize, the boat can fill with water. I don't...

Sailingfool-
I'm pretty sure the Beneteau 323 has an iron keel. The Catalinas have lead keels. I agree, iron is not my first choice for keel material. Rob

John,
Thanks for the response.
I have seen pictures of the Hunter 31 but did not consider it. One of my criteria for a boat is that I like the way it looks. I've never liked the looks of any of...

Recommendations on 28-33' sailboat

I predominantly daysail with my wife and two kids, 9 and 12 on Lake Michigan. I currently have a Colgate 26 which is a great boat for daysailing, but it lacks space down below and an enclosed head. ...

Colgate 26

I''ve had a Colgate 26 now for 3 years. This is what I like about the boat.
1. Fun to sail. It handles great and is very fast.
2. Its very safe. It has positive flotation and even if holed it will...

I''ve noticed that some boats have hulls with PVC foam core in the hull. Is this a closed cell foam core and is it any good? One boat that looked interesting described the hull as E glass/PVC foam...

Looking for a shallow draft boat for W Florida waters F

I owned a Morgan Out Island 33. The 30 is fairly similar and either the 33 or 30 would be a good choice in my opinion. Both are quite large in the cabin, and shoal draft. Rob
