Re: Does anything remove Sikaflex 291?

Hey Minnesail, sounds like your friend was a trooper! I can't even begin to count how many (all?) of the women that I've dated that said at one time or another "you have lost your frigging mind if...

Re: Does anything remove Sikaflex 291?

Sorry but I can't help but laugh. I was in the auto glass field for about 20 years. And for about 20 years, my hands were stained black. In case you didn't know, products by Sikaflex are also used to...

Re: Are These Winches Salvageable?

It looks to me like there's no reason that you can't clean them up and use them. A good solvent soak, lots of rags and a firm brush should do the job.

Re: How to report AIS violations?

I used to work on a ship. Although I wouldn't bet my life on it, my understanding was that the AIS was always left on. That includes under the pilots control. Again, I could be wrong.

Re: Name that Dinghy!

It looks to me like a "Walker Bay". I know that they also sell a sailing rig for their dingies.

Re: Here's a funny question for ya.

Lmao. I don't want to kill the thing. Although, I'll be it would be good honey glazed with a side of red potatoes, garlic, butter and a spinach salad. Mmmm

Re: A little rigging advice please

Ok, I have my answer. Believe it or not, I have all of the original paperwork that came with the boat. Sanduskysailor, you are correct my friend! According to the paperwork the rigging was 7/32"...

Re: A little rigging advice please

I do have the utmost confidence in my Gary Mull designed boat. I plan to head south and then jump over to the Bahamas, followed by heading south and island hopping to Grenada. Since I am not a sail...

Here's a funny question for ya.

So, the other day I was washing down my boat. I couldn't get over the amount of bird poo on my deck. I later went to the store to buy a plastic owl (this is no joke). Later in the day one of the...

Re: A little rigging advice please

The current rigging is actually in good shape. I don't see any broken wire or rust. I'm stepping the mast to work on the teak spreaders, change my antenna cable, change the work light and check...

Re: A little rigging advice please

Thanks manatee! I really don't see how it could hurt. When I do it, I will be handing the rigger all of the wires. That way I don't have to measure them and have any mistakes on my end.

A little rigging advice please

A little confused about something, maybe you can help me? I have a '74 Ranger R29. Next month I will be having my mast stepped off to do some work. My standing rigging (that I assume are the same...

Re: what wrong with this pic, or look before you......

I'm pretty sure that it's a Boa. It looks just like my Columbian Red Tail.

I think that I'll be waiting for it to come out on DVD. "This is an S.O.S call", really?

Re: Go bigger or go now?

Go now. My feeling is that 28' or 50', the ocean is always going to be bigger. If you're happy, why change?

Re: how much experience do I need

In my opinion, first thing that I think that you should do is take some ASA sailing classes. While you are doing that you will meet some very knowledgeable people and sail several types of boats. Not...

Re: Ranger 24?

Ok, Olson34. I will retract what I said. I haven't had any issues with my boat, however I have heard about the Ranger R29 having an issue with the wood block under the compression post. I know that...

Want to get a boat to live cheaper? Bahahaha. I do hope that you find what you're looking for, really. Good luck and do a ton of homework first.

Re: Ranger 24?

Hey Richman7777. I have a Ranger R29. Wanna race? "I'd take her anywhere", You, would be showing up a week later. The only thing that's "laughable" is your opinion.

Re: My first tack - I capsized!! :)

LMAO. I had a Sunfish a few years ago and would take it out on the windiest days. Flipping the boat was half of the fun. Although, when I was 12 my mother didn't find me flipping the Snark so funny...

Re: Dogs?

I have a 110 lb. Bull Mastiff that lives with me on my Ranger 29R. She is just fine with the boat life. From the day that she stepped on you would think that she was born to sail. :)

Re: Whats this?

I've seen something like this before. It's hard to tell from the pic the size of it. The one that I saw was used as a seat. It was hung by bolts inside the cabin at the navigation station. That way...

I can't help but question this whole thing and what is wanted by the poster. Not to mention the chain and anchor. Why/how on Gods green earth would anyone use 250 ft. of 3 inch chain on an 42 ft....
