fair point! the boat is in San Pedro, but I'm prepared to pay travel for a really good surveyor. That said, you're right about the traffic, it's a horror story.

Tricky cos the conversion was done with the owner before the current one. The broker says he talked with that owner who claimed 'Robert Perry redesigned her as a sloop'. That owner was called Albert...

Thanks so much to both of you for the info. Really helpful. Mr Perry this boat is one of yours - a 1980 cheoy lee 48 center cockpit - it was converted to a sloop (apparently under your supervision)...
