Re: Ever had a MEDICAL EMERGENCY while at SEA?

THIS, what Gary said, is really important.

Here's the deal with self doctoring, be it at home or a million miles away at sea. CORRECTLY DIAGNOSING THE CONDITION is the difficult part. The rest...

Re: fuse popped, ARRRG

EDIT: Usually I read the entire thread before posting. This was a good reminder to always do so, because my question is answered in the thread. Thanks.

Re: New Father...Advice needed on sailing with kids

Seattle marine has lifeline nwtting on their website. Search and ye will find. They sell nets to the Alaska fishing fleet and have a huge selection. They're friendly and affordable too.

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

Sound's like you've been down the road that I'm on. I know that I'm going to have to comply with this because it's on the survey and insurance companies don't like interpretation, explanations or...

Nice. That wouldn't be to bad at all.

Another thought I had was to buy all the expensive halon extinguishers from our local guy in town and see if he'd throw in several years of inspections as...

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

But that's just it. That's exactly my question. It appears we boaters ARE all supposed to get our extinguishers all inspected and tagged OR for possibly lesser expense, buy 3 cheap new ones and...

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

Hellosailor,

I seem to remember from previous threads that you are knowledgeable on the extinguisher subject, and a fan of Halon too if I remember correctly. Thanks for adding to the discussion....

Re: Another "Next Generation" anchor enters the market...

This weekend we went out on my parents powerboat and anchored with his new 105lb Mantus. The holding is superb (thick mud/sand mix) where we anchored and he dropped the anchor while moving forward...

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

Just answered my own question. It appears that halotron and other "clean agents" may or may not shut down the engine. If they don't the engine will rapidly expel the agent rendering it useless. I...

Re: Inspecting fire extinguishers

I did a search and they are surprisingly easy to find. Common even. By my research they're a little less than twice as expensive as Halotron and halon is supposedly twice as effective as Halotron....

Re: What do you do for food on a day cruise?

I wonder if it's anything like "Clamato" which I've seen mixed with beer in Canada. I think you can even get it pre-mixed in cans. I'll try it, but clams and beer???

When it's really...

How was the cleanup afterwords? Was the powder all throughout the boat?

This survey finding has caused me to do a lot of research on fire extinguishers and I must say I'm learning a...

Re: VERY dissapointed with Mustang Lil' Legends lifejacket!

Otherwise known as the trial fitting center for the older mustang jackets. Brillian idea!

Re: VERY dissapointed with Mustang Lil' Legends lifejacket!

Yes, the child one is the one that we're having the issue with. I already know the infant and youth won't fit because we tried those two models in the store.

Again, growing won't help him...

Re: VERY dissapointed with Mustang Lil' Legends lifejacket!

The sizes are standard in the USA:

Infant = up to 30lbs

Child = 30-50lbs

Youth = 50-90lbs.

In my 28 pounder's case I tried on the infant, and it wasn't going to work, and tried the youth...
