You have to look at a cruising cat not a charter cat , a good 2nd hand one that is already fitted with all the gear . Plenty available in South Africa for well under your budget .

I own a van de stadt norman 40ft. Mine does not have steering inside but many do . We are very happy with the sailing ability of the yacht . They are mainly steel ,with a few aluminum ones .huge fuel...

We love our Deck saloon (it cant be steered from inside , unless by remote on the auto pilot) . The space ,visibility etc is the best of a mono hull with the visibility all round of a cat .
