Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

Re: Help me plan my cruise North!

I'm sort of averse to sailing into inlets for that reason. Making the turn in with 20 knots wind if you are constricted can be stress inducing so I will just motor in.

There was a pretty nice...

re: Ways to Get Boat From Long Island to Upstate NY

The INITIAL price might be low, but the cost is going up fast.. I see them around here in the $2500 - $5000 range with a motor and trailer, in good shape.

Re: First boat advice - Mpls to Great Lakes

You could probably buy a nice small boat for day sailing - and rent a nice big one for the one or two weeks you would cruise. Cheaper and easier.

Re: Seeking life wisdom, and an opportunity to crew on a passage

Good advice.

I advise my own sons this - to take a year after graduation for adventuring/travel/enrichment. The career, husband, father thing is like going from indentured servant to plantation...

Re: $3000/mo cruising budget

This thread is sort of inching towards a point I wanted to make;

Rather than ask " How much does it cost to cruise?" Ask-

What does $3000/ month look like where I want to go? What does this...

Re: Just Do It--You're Not Getting Any Younger

I don't know. I was ..uhh.. less wise when I was 20. I tended to go out in all sorts of rough weather and do other sorts of risky behaviors. Perhaps its just as well that I didn't go too far.

At...

Re: Violent attack, Cruisers injured, St Vincent & Grenadines, Union Island

I'm an american. Sick to death of the guns politics discussion. Leaving the gun discussion off topic is the only thing making it possible for me to follow this thread.

Re: crack in cockpit sole of Catalina 22, how serious?

You should be able to put your head under the seats and look around. You may have to move the galley, or the panel between the dinette and the gas locker under the seat. But its simple. You have to...

Mine sings too!! I find it charming. We have owned boats from a sunfish to an H31 and have liked all but I have to say I love this old boat. Reef the main and with a small jib and sailing...

Re: Towing a Capri 16 with a Subaru outback?
