Re: Interesting Sailboats

An addenda to my previous post ..... thanks to Paulo for the thread. An amazing amount of work went into it with some incredible boats and info on them.

Re: Raw water cooling - walk away?

I'm presuming a raw water cooled engine would have a shorter life span than non RWCed but not tragically so. I've owned a number of boats that were RWC and didn't have any major problems.

Re: What to take, toss, sell or store

Ignoring the gear required to keep the boat happening, including e.g galley kit, we'll also simply cut back personal possessions to what will fit into our allocated lockers in the forward cabin. I...

Re: Underwater Lights

Re: Choosing a wind generator

Prior .... if I'm correct the blue blades are not original equipment. The SilentWind people sell the blue blades with an adaptor to fit onto an Air X. Their claim is that this makes for a quieter Air...

Re: Smackdaddy needs your thoughts/prayers

All very well and good but he is doing it in a Hunter. :p

Salute to you Smack. Argumentative old sod that you may well be but in your own way .... dare I say loveable ? Crikey.

Well .... like...

Re: Soft shackle with jib sheets

I have used one and found nothing to criticise. Also known as a Dutch shackle btw.

Re: Generator

Mate I won't even run our wind genny at night and I am obsessive about slapping halyards. Even music and voices need to be toned down after dusk, not to mention those who would engage in a bit of...

Re: Pearons 28 passes Beneteau 46

Reality is if you want to dish it out you need to be able to take it when the barbs come back at you. Wilson obviously has a problem with that but hey, thats his problem he has to learn to deal with...

Re: What make is this boat? Any ideas please

Part of me agrees with Van de Stadt but no smoking gun. There is a similarity to the VDS39 which was built by Dehler as the Dehler 39CWS but that's not 12.5m (41') and/or the VDS Caribbean at 40'....

Re: W D Schock called me a freeloader for asking for info about my boat

We will never reach agreement on this. For sure the OP's request was very poorly worded but the response was less than diplomatic and very short sighted.

I'm a small business owner and will...

My first keelboat that actually had an engine was powered by an old Volvo MD6 that was simply bolted into place and with bugger all soundproofing. It was all I could stand to start the damn thing and...

Re: Sailing Dog's Boat Destroyed By Fire

The point is noted and the Dog and I had more than our fair share of run ins but nah, to speak as if he deserved this is simply not on. Now if this thread was about the Dog's haemorrhoids flaring up...
