Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Jonas
I realize now that you do the same. Difficult when not having the thread in front of you when replying.

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Jonas
We set the genakker as you do, but with only one winch. When setting the genakker, the genoa sheet is fixed in a horizontal sheet stopper/rope clutch, which is mounted on the deck a...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Waymar
On the French private website, before it closed, I found the winches to be: SU 42 Winch 42C.
The "SU" doesn't really mean anything to me.
I use the manual for Lewmar Winch Service...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

It would be fun to be there with you and try it out.
If the locker is dry, it may be the exhaust between the motor and the muffler (correct?) which is below the floor of the locker (in my boat)....

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

I never tried, but I think I would spread paper towel in a few most suspected areas and then go out to a place with little/no traffic and heal over for example for 5-10 min, slack the sails and go...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Thanks -
Did you try to place paper towels under the floor boards while sailing, to see where it first enters?
Did we talk about closing the outlet from the toilet sink when healing?
Best regards...

Leaky windows
Dear all
You have probably got the same problem. It is recurrent for me, at the sites of the bars where the aft and forward windows meet. The screws get loose and also the grooves...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

I got a reasonable result with a mixture of 30% Epifanes Woodfinish gloss in Epifanes Rubbed.

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Thank you, Marty
I did scrape off the white stains and smoothed them with a cabinet scraper and sandpaper. When applying Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss varnish, diluted 25%, these bare teak areas became...

Varnish
Hello everybody.
Do you have experience with interior varnish repair? I have some white stains from leaking water (windows) and want to find a varnish that can match the original sprayed...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Mark
Certainly an important problem. No bright ideas. I would use the Sherlock Homes looking glass: keep the floorboards off, cover the bilge with paper towel, go sailing, se where the water...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Ido
Thank you - that would be great. No immediate plans, but I will certainly keep it in mind.

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Ido
Yes, she is doing better with more wind, especially when the waves are not high. Another issue is probably the constant temptation to point too high - still keeping the sails in shape but...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Ido
Welcome here. I envy you that you have won trophies - I do a lot of racing but I am always behind.
Best regars

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Dear Mark
Yes, in those waves and with current and wind against you, I would certainly also have a slog. No wonder that the police called you ;-). Anyway, this was very nice of them.
Only way out...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

In my case I did not realize it until one of the crew went below in high wind and saw warter flowing up from the sink and sidewards to the side of the boat and then down, passing into the main cabin....

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

Sounds really great.
On port tack?
Water coming in when the starboard is in the water may be the sink in the toilet - I had that problem and close the valve whenever going in bigger wind/waves....

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

I have mine in the same location - only that the starting battery is in the same compartment. My wires are much more messy than yours. They are, however, all linked to the switch board...

Good luck to you and your crew...

Re: Jeanneau Attalia

I was just through this in the spring. I only removed the loose parts of the barrier coat on the keel, visible through cracks or rust. When shining metal appears on the keel, you are...
