Re: What to do when conditions get really bad?

Like most things, I think the answer is " It depends". Is the weather a short lived event, like a summer squall, or is it a larger system that will hang around with conditions growing worse? If...

Re: Sure as taxes....

I don't know anything about your laws, but have seen that stuff happen here in the States. It would worry me that they still have the original owner listed on their registration info. Hopefully,...

Re: Do You Pole out your Jib?

Thanks Sailormon, it would be easy enough to test. I can remove one of the cleats from my genoa track and let it live on the mast track for a bit and see if it causes any trouble, before I invest...

Re: Do You Pole out your Jib?

Yes, and now that you've completed the paint job it's unlikely that you'd ever have to revisit it again. So, I'd reinstall it. But, If you never plan on selling the boat then fine leave it off. ...

Re: Do You Pole out your Jib?

I agree with MedSailor. There's really no maintenance involved with the track, just reinstall it. Store the poles at home if you never use them, or sell them. New Poles can easily run a boat buck...

Re: Reefing ties remaining on the main? Good or bad practice?

I don't think it's a big deal if you feel it makes your life easier vs. airflow. I only have two intermediate cringles in my 1st reef and the sail is loose footed, so it takes very little time...
