Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

Most of our gas is delivered in composite bottles these days. The advantage (beside the savings in weight and maintenance) is that you can visually see how much is left in them ;)

Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

It doesn't work like that BS - You can (or should be able to) back up your claims with evidence, we are asking for that evidence to be able to verify your claims. We actually have been for a looooong...

Re: Dudley Dix / Didi 26

In the water some seasons over winter (they get ice in Sweden, but not too much/too often here in DK), otherwise under a tarp. The last years admittedly in a shed where the new owner is refitting her...

Re: Dudley Dix / Didi 26

Having owned a professionally built plywood boat from 68 that is still going strong I would be sending hate mail to Denise too :) This is in a country where it rains a LOT winter and summer.

The...

The evidence presented doesn't seem to support that.

Re: Steel vs Fiberglass

Sandblasting that SV Seeker hull inside out in all nooks and crannies is going to be ... Nastier than anything I can imagine. Putting all the required paint on ain't going to be a walk in the park...

Re: Pros and cons for a double ender/Canoe Stern

It's a rugged survivor, no doubt, but so many boats have been abandoned and found floating after months and even years on their own.
Looking at the numbers today I'm pretty sure that more bluewater...

Re: Pros and cons for a double ender/Canoe Stern

A canoe stern is not just a canoe stern. Some of them do not have much volume aft, and might be pooped more easily than the ones with a wider behind. From reading "Yacht Design According to Perry",...

Re: Sailing around the world on a Catalina 22 sailboat

That is just not true.
While some bad designs have had too much stability in the inverted position they would have stayed inverted with any type of keel (but would have capsized earlier with a full...

Re: California dinghy registration madness

No we don't - although the Insurance will have your details.

Point taken :o 25%

I love USA, it just struck me as a strange that you couldn't just splash a boat and go sailing. We have...

Re: California dinghy registration madness

Sorry if I'm offending anyone, that is not my intention - But how can this be going on in the Land of the Free? That is just oppressive, or am I missing something? We sure don't require all that for...

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Thanks, although we've seen many times in this (and other threads) that facts and numbers doesn't matter for some :)
Another example I like to use is the die-hard folkboat owners here (we have many)...

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

While a few harsh Words probably came from Bob's keyboard as well, why would you not buy a boat from a proven designer that defended himself against some pretty strong comments and far out "stories"....

Bob,

We're all delusional. Think the Matrix, this has only ever happened in our minds, and not in reality (whatever that is).

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Bob you contributed positively and provided a lot of great info, but we all got in a fight with Brent, even those of us that know and respects steel.
So don't take my ramblings as anything else :)

Re: Pros and cons of steel sailboats

Why this ever became a comparison/dogfight between cost conscious cruising and new custom designs from Bob Perry is beyond me. It was about the advantages of steel, and then BS claimed that his was...

You need to stick to the truth: Joshua was a basically an empty Shell full of sand and Water after that, and Bernard gave the remains to a Swiss guy WHO needed several years to get her back...

Re: Yanmar while sailing, reverse or neutral?

Do you have the number of that advisory (or even better a copy of it). Were told by Yanmar DK that reverse was not allowed even with folding propellers.

Thanks

Re: Interesting Sailboats

If you want your Family to keep sailing you should heed Paulo's advice and choose a larger Dragonfly or the Luffe.

I'm mad about the Dragonfly's as well, but...

I disagree with the Price...
