Re: Rule 16 situation: Room to Keep Clear

Re: Single handed docking...

Re: Running one sail

In heavy winds up to 20kts, sailing my catalina 27 with just the 135 was not good. It gets way to hard to sheet in tight and you feel the rigging straining.

That boat was much better...

Re: Volvo a damp squib?

Some of the interweb videos are very good...at least the ones about actual sailing. Couldn't care less about their personal lives. If you have a "smart" tv, you can play the videos on your tv too...

Re: I hate boats...

Call the insurance company and follow up with a letter to document it so at least it is on record. Who actually wrote the check for the rebuild and install, you or the insurance company?

Re: Mainsail twist & traveller position

You are not 'spilling wind' in light conditions when you add twist. Twist is required here because the apparent wind direction is further aft at the top of the mast than at the boom. It's like the...

Re: Mainsail twist & traveller position

It does. Easing the mainsheet (& vang) will allow the boom to lift and spill wind out the top. But you will have more control by playing the traveler in gusts by simply adjusting the angle of...
