Re: Helms25 Window Gaskets

Good luck. The PO on my boat had replaced the clear plastic with tinted safety glass. It's bedded with a marine clear silicone. Its about the only place on the boat i would allow silicone to be used...

Re: Delmarva Circumnavigation

You don't have to anchor out in the Harbor of Refuge. You can sail into Lewes through the Roosevelt Inlet (Very nice inlet) and dock in town. All the city docks and marina buildings were new a couple...

Re: Helms 27

At the top of the page click resources, then forums (Msg brds), and scroll down to the Helms board. The Helms 25 seems to be the most popular with the 24 and 27 not far behind. I'm sure some 27...

Re: Delmarva Circumnavigation

My home port is Rehoboth Bay and Indian River Bay and inlet. Just a note that the old 35' high bridge at Indian River Inlet was taken down last year. It now has a new 45' high bridge. I don't know...

Re: Favorite Boat Shoe???

I'm on my third pair of Sperry Kingfisher ASV's. They have a narrow width at the arch which really supports my arch and that along with the ASV saves my aching feet. Also very sure footed on deck.

Re: Sailboat lift

I use mooring whips on my Helms 25. They work great for me. They are the stationary type, so I tie the stern whip bent into the dock so my rigging doesn't hit during docking.

Thanks for all the great input.
I'm trying to get a better shape and no wrinkles.

Probably about 8 knots in this shot,~ 50 degree to wind.

This rig has a mast claw and halyard crimp in the SS...

Re: New Tiller

I think West Marine has one that will work in their catalog. I wouldn't mind one with a little more upward offset. Remember they price match and will ship free to a store near you.

Re: I'm still arm wrestling with Jack Helms and he's still winning.

Nice job David! Put some Tef-Gel on those threads so they don't react with the SS/Alum ( I know you know that, but for the benefit of others).
Did you have your spreader tips covered with those...

Re: Introduction and Question

If your trailer is good and you can pick up a 9.9 HP long shaft for under $1,500, I think you can get your money back when it comes time to move up in size, if you decide you need bigger. We...

Re: Boo TowBoatUS! They don't connect their own DSC

I don't think Towboat would answer your DSC call directly even if they had the GPS and VHF wired correctly. They would wait for the USCG to answer the DSC distress call, then wait for instructions if...

Re: Helms 24 vs 25???

Paul - The Helms 25 has a 5'-1" head room if you do not have the Pop-up model.
I would recommend that it's time to take a look and sail both boats to find out which you like best. The specs are one...

Re: Helms 24 vs 25???

The 24 - Fixed keel, good head room, spacious for it's size, quick in its day.

The 25 - Centerboard and fixed ballast, good head room only if you get the Pop-up model and use it while anchored.

Was the pin stainless in those early years or bronze or...
