Re: Won't Start after 4 hours of cruising.

Since the incident, the engine starts fine.

I'm looking into adjust the throttle throw. Perhaps it's running a little low at idle? It never sets off an alarm, but when I first got the boat there...

Re: Won't Start after 4 hours of cruising.

Got it - Thanks. Sorry I tune into at work to check responses and read that too fast the first time, responded and submitted before my manager came back from lunch without double-checking.

Re: Won't Start after 4 hours of cruising.

BATTERIES: The batteries were on ALL, however the sound it made was as if I accidentally left it on "house" (which I've done after anchoring for long times) however I am going to test them all -...

Re: Won't Start after 4 hours of cruising.

Thanks these are great suggestions. I will do a good battery check and clean/maintenance asap. I was thinking fuel pump, but it was running perfectly well (and has for two years) and did after it...

Won't Start after 4 hours of cruising.

I have Universal M25 in a 1985 Catalina 30.

Motorsailed to Catalina Island (4 hours) at a steady 2200 RPM (The throttle lever is at max forward, but only brings the engine up to 2200)

Stayed...

Re: Potential move To Southern CA

Another one of these threads hm..

It's true that socal doesn't like liveaboards, there's an abundance of them doing it legally and illegally, the sneak-aboards ruin it for people who want to do it...

Re: Photos from La Paz, hurricane Odile

Ouch. I was wondering how La Paz was.

I was stuck in Cabo last week during the hurricane. The storm parked right out the whole peninsula, everything is wrecked.

Sunday Night through Thursday...

Re: Help me figure out what kind of boat I want.

The Nantucket Clipper certainly seeems like a better cruiser than the others so far. You might have to get a second water tank or, if you prefer not to use/drink the tank water you just pack more...

Re: Cruising California. Experiences and advice.

My neighbors are selling a Ericson 28 in great shape in Redondo. It needs nothing and was used to go to Catalina regularly, has all you could ever need.

They're asking like 16k but also motivated...

Re: Boat Explodes

Aside from the unfortunate event - did anyone see how that the hoses on the fire boat kick it back? That's pretty insane, that much power pumping out of those things that they have to fight it back...

re: Cruising California. Experiences and advice.

I think you should start in SoCal, if that's what you want, and it's going to be more comfortable, and less risk.

I've thought of a similar adventure, but when you realize that fun surf = swells &...

Re: Auction Boats?

They're almost always as-is. It's a bit of a gamble, with the risk of getting a money-pit or getting something of a diamond in the rough for a good price.

2 people on my dock recently took over...

Re: So where the heck do you shower???

Solar-heated shower bag, up on deck or in the cockpit.

You sacrifice privacy if you want to get clean.

Re: Does an Hobie Catamaran a good intro to sailing?

Yes.

Catamarans in that size teach you a lot (probably more than monohulls in the 16ft range).

Backwinding the jib for most tacks, the trickiness to dock one, the sensitivity to flip over, the...

Re: Is the Newport 27' a suitable liveaboard for a small family?

Sounds like a nice boat, but "SUITABLE"? ---- no. ----

Doable? Yeah, but like in a "All you need is food and shelter for survival" kind of way.

Same goes for a Catalina 30 - Much larger, and...

Re: smelly sink

DON'T POUR BOILING WATER DOWN YOUR BOAT SINK.

Close the through-hull if there is one, flood the pipes with vinegar. Let it sit for a day or more, then flush it out.

I have this problem...

Re: Sailing around the world on a Catalina 22 sailboat

With perfect weather windows it's probably possible. You'd have to have a lot of patience, and not need a lot of food or water storage.

Realistically yes, a 22 foot sailboat can do it - but you'd...

Moorings Put Where There Weren't Moorings

In my home base of King Harbor, Redondo Beach, CA, there was this long-time hidden gem about this harbor, and that is that you can just steer your boat to the side of the channel and drop anchor. ...
