My 2 cents:

I have been living aboard a Columbia 28 for over 5 years, I say that because I can't remember how long is been without pulling out my boat title ;). At the time 28ft was all I could...

Re: This is what I call a motivated college student... afloat.

I have been living on my boat for over 5 years and I will say this: Being 6'2" and having a cabin height of 5'10" can be frustrating at times.

Re: Small boat single handed hoisting

I have a C28. When I am single-handing I wrap a line around the tiller and tie it off. Super simple, and it works too.

Re: Propane dinghy engine

I have a 5hp long shaft. The seals blew after about 10 hrs of use. I would not recommend the outboards to anyone.

Question Marinas near Coral Springs FL

I will be in Coral Springs, FL for the next few months. Does anyone have marina recommendation? It looks like somewhere Bola, Deerfield, or Pompano are going to be the best bet.

Thanks.

Re: New Northeast Liveboard - First Condensation/Mildew Battle

I lived aboard in Annapolis for many years and never had a condensation problem. Since you have shore power the oil filled radiators are the way to go like wingnwing suggested. I also recommend...

Re: V Berth Mattress

Camping mats cut to fit on the bottom. Five 1-1/2" foam toppers cut to fit on top. I live aboard and have been sleeping on this for a few years. I've been thinking of upgrading since thicker...

Re: Buying older boat with company out of business

I agree with DrB. I have a 1968 and even if they made replacement parts I would want to install something more up to date. You don't replace parts on an old boat you re-engineer them.

Re: Man of Leisure

When I was in Annapolis I stayed at Port Annapolis Marina. I highly recommend talking with them if your looking for somewhere to dock. Great staff and amenities, plus it's a DIY yard! Stayed there...

Re: 52' houseboat aground holly hill,FL.

From my reading of this thread, a few points that stuck out.

He was not allowed to use the same method that the city did to free the boat.

He was charged when he stated he would defend his home...

Re: Liferaft on a Chesapeake charter boat

I have worked for a bare-boat chartering company on the Chesapeake bay and we did not require a life raft to be in our fleet.

Re: Older Boat Insurance

Well I'm in the process of getting my 1968 Columbia insured because of the marina I just moved to. Boat US is the only insurer I could find that would even consider a policy on the boat and all I...

Re: About single handing!

A trick I learned is to have a spring line tied off to the first piling you have access to while on approach. Have the length set so that you can drop it around one of your cleats, then leave the...

Re: Propane dinghy engine

I actually bought the 5hp long shaft for my C28 Columbia. Unfortunately I have to change my adapter plate to mount it properly. I should be able to give you some feed back in the next couple of...
