A good gassing voltage is good for the batteries every now and then. In fact most good quality "smart chargers" will revert to an absorption level voltage to periodically gas the batteries.

Rusty,

Aboard Guenevere, we went with option 1. The box is in the engine compartment and is a GFI type. I use it to plug in the charger and I also use it to plug in the cord for our Engel reefer....

Just pinch the by-pass hose with hose pinch pliers. These are smooth jawed Vise Grips that won't damage the hose... Reversing the direction of flow can also help and often blows some crud out that...
