Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Well, and all this said, the 9.2c is gone. Was a beautiful boat, would've been absolutely perfect for myself and my cats, and the location was far beyond ideal for me, but alas... My GF and her two...

Re: 30' Tri - I know she ain't liveaboard...

I did look at a few Gemini's (105mc mostly) and they're pretty well laid out, but I didn't think they'd quite fit the bill long term. I've heard they have a real nasty slap, and it's difficult to...

Re: 30' Tri - I know she ain't liveaboard...

Good call on the propane locker. I noticed that a month after shooting the video :)

As for the walkover... Yea, I could deal with a tri if I was planning on being somewhere warm. As it is now...

Re: 30' Tri - I know she ain't liveaboard...

Well, nothing for the time being. I think I've decided that a monohull anywhere near my price range isn't what I'm looking for. I don't like the layout of most tri's for long term use. I don't...

Re: 1977 Catalac 9m - will I die?

Been considering going to have a look at this one as well. I suppose my issue now is that some people say they're acceptable for blue water (with some work) while others say not a chance, which is...

Re: 1977 Catalac 9m - will I die?

Heh. I've crossed the country (Canada) 6 times. Several trips in a semi-truck with a king sleeper, once in a pickup, once (mostly) by motorcycle, and i've probably walked nearly a thousand km of...

Re: 1977 Catalac 9m - will I die?

The gazebo LOOKS to be standard on all the 9m's I've seen. This one seemed a bit different but it all glassed properly. My main concerns would be with regards to the hull, and then price. I've...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Yea, finding moorage isn't all that difficult. Most of the Marina's still haven't discovered the Internet (which would make it much easier), but those who have all seem to have a few slips open. ...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

:) Thanks. That alleviates my only concern with this boat other than "I still can't find liveaboard moorage anywhere that allows pets".

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Heh. The stripe is new. Currently on the boat. Talked to the owner. Said the spot in photo is from camera. I asked around a bit and no one recalls any major work being done to the keel. Just...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Thanks! Now I can go back to the owner and ask him how long the boats been listed. Most lie. This guy I think will be honest, but I always like to know.

Re: 30' Tri - I know she ain't liveaboard...

Oh, I just like it for myself. The S2 had decent deck space, but it's got nothin' on the Tri. The Tri has very little storage room, and isn't well laid out at all. I think at this point I'd be...

Re: 30' Tri - I know she ain't liveaboard...

Considering it. Right now it's between this and the S2 9.2c for $26k. The S2 is much more liveable and way better equipped. The Tri is pretty bare. Two burner propane stove, a useless sink,...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

What's wrong with the head? Just the fact that it's piped outboard?

The rigging/sails looked very good, but again, I know very little. Need to take someone who knows these things with me next...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Still going to look at the Tri this afternoon. Told the owner I suspected it'd be too small for me and to just let me know when she had a bunch of viewings lined up so I'm not wasting her time. ...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

My thoughts as well. I have two other S2's to check out first (another 9.2c in WA for $19k and an 8.0c for $5500 in Point Roberts), but if neither look good, I'll call the owner and tell'm exactly...

I didn't even notice that. Thought it was lense flare or something on my screen. Will ask about it ;) thanks.

as for the rack, no idea. It's probably owned by the yacht club. They have a lot...

Re: S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

Not sure which storage racks you're speaking of. From what I've seen of other S2 (pictures only) this looks mostly stock layout, with added "mousefur?". We went to see it right after it had rained...

Re: Solar power ~ no more running the engine

I think of Amps vs. Volts vs. Watts like water flowing through a pipe.
"D" = Pipe diameter = Volts
"S" = Speed of water flow = Amps
"F" = Overall throughput = Watts.

If we want to attain...

S2 9.2c - for liveaboard - thoughts?

http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/kjc/120215/312r1/7522dkk_20.jpeg
So I went to see an S2 9.2c yesterday (as well as a few others that I didn't trust). It seemed to be in excellent condition. ...
