Re: Red over Green Navigation Light

I have (will have when it's stepped) the all around red over greens. I used the 180* reds and greens from Lopolight. They are separated about a meter.. I think I did 39 inches or so. Here's my mast...

Re: VHF mounting advice

Just to show you how I mounted everything... The VHF and the maretron wind sensor aren't mounted yet as I was going to hook that up before I stepped it. Also, the windex isn't mounted either.

Re: Why are wheels so big?

As to the autopilot, below deck at least, Lewmar came out with a disengaging wheel system. It allows the wheel to be free from the shaft so when a autopilot is in use the autopilot isn't having to...

Re: Why are wheels so big?

I think you are using the wrong words here.. A bigger wheel will have the same rotation in degrees hard over as a smaller wheel. The difference can't be expressed in degrees, it has to be distance. A...

Re: I hate boats...

Anyone have a link to those Scott anti siphon loops?

I'm in the stage of buying these for all my through hulls, as they are all below the waterline. Not too sure about my mixing elbow yet but...

Re: Kaufman 47 cutter, anyone have anything on these boats?

Thanks for the compliments! The decks I was planning on going with MarineDeck 2000 or similar. I like the cork, it is what they use on cruise ships, or so they say, so can't be too bad. Plus, it's...

Re: Copper sheeting & CopperCoat anti-fouling

Well was going to put the ducer in but didn't because I wasn't going over.. So I left it. Good idea though. At one time I had a hose but took it out to put transducer in..

Re: Copper sheeting & CopperCoat anti-fouling

Well haven't put the boat in the water yet, didn't work out with the yard management. It will have to wait till Dec when I get back from sea.

Otherwise, I have a picture of the bottom oxidizing...

Re: Turn that frown upside down! Lets talk NEW engines!

Hey Med, so you know the Yanmar comes with its own panel, gauges, and wire harness in the crate. As far as I know, I didn't see any electronics or anything that resembled a ecm or ecu... I'll look...

Re: Turn that frown upside down! Lets talk NEW engines!

I just purchased a new Yanmar 4hj4-te 75hp a couple months ago. Coming from a Volkswagen Pathfinder 70hp 5cyl I have much more room than before. The new Yanmar have most everything is thought out in...

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

So I have looked for a bit for larger than 10awg marine wire for running from the shore power outlet to the panel. All I can seem to find that is tinned is 10awg. I'd like to get at least 8,but 6 is...

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

Got it, yea I was looking at the 60a ProSafe. That should be plenty as I really don't have anything that draws 50a,but that's what the boat comes with. Eventually an ac unit will go in the boat, so...

They ARE of value in the real world. That is a ridiculous statement to make, as they wouldn't be IN the real world if they didn't have any value.

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

One 50a, which I believe is only a 120vac.

I think a better option would be the galvanic isolator. Like I said, if I find stay current the best thing to do is fix the problem at the source. It's...

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

I didn't look up Charles, but regardless those are just as heavy as getting two Victron units. (the Victron on has up to 30a, that's why I said two). The 50a/120v is 155 lbs, and the 50a/240v is...

Thanks, I ended up finding a thread on it too. Seems the IT is nice but at 60lbs a pop for the Victron units and I would need two for 50a it's not going to happen, especially at $500+ each.

I'll...

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

That's basically what I'm doing, but I'm buying products that won't need to be replaced when LFP batteries are in a better position. I'm shooting for a solid well built electrical system that I won't...

Re: Questions with my DC purchasing

I understand it's a system approach which is why I don't want to buy something and it not be compatible down the road with LFP. I'll check out the Victron unit. Though I may get a small Sterling so I...
