I'm currently planning on selling everything (but the boat) and sailing off next year at 56. Mentally I realize that I might not really be ready to never work again, but also know that if I stay out...

Re: Dark and Foggy

Re: Safety in crowded anchorages?

I feel the only rule worth knowing is that probably half the boats aren't happy with the other half. Everything is is just internet forum chatter!

Dark and Foggy

There's something relaxing about being out in the open (i.e. knowing you aren't near any hard thingy that you can run aground on) in the dark and fog! Once you come to terms with the fact that you...

Re: Planning a distance sail. Need opinions.

World is full of people willing to tell others what they can or can not do with their boat that they know more about than them. Hell read any production boat thread and it will sound just like your...

Re: Modern convenience and boat size

I have solar because I like cold beer!

Basically I spent $1600 to keep $460 worth of batteries charged so that I could leave the refrigerator on all the time while on my mooring so I could always...

I'm going to get flamed, but I think radar is pretty much overrated.

Re: West Marine

What part of WM having something for less available in their catalog that you could have ordered, just like for Defender, aren't you getting?

A store's job is to stock things that turn over by...

So that's what they had in the store (and I'm sure that Defender doesn't have some WM branded stuff), which isn't the same as what else might be in the catalog. I don't feel you are comparing the...

Lets not start crying poverty folks. We all mostly here have boats (yachts) and if we were really all socially moral would be helping others with the money wasted on them. And I grew one step above...

Re: How poor is the average liveaboard cruiser?
