hmmmm...interesting - mine is a Lewmar 6 on the mast and 7's for the jib sheets and original to the boat - and a 1980 as well (Canadian built I believe) - this will be fun to watch what you find out....

I have an 8 HP Tohatsu and it is way more than enough for the Irwin. I would think the 6 HP will do just fine especially if is the sail pro model with the hi thrust prop and the alternator package....
