Re: Installing Stereo in my H23

It has been established in another thread, that stereos on boats are rude and inconsiderate at any volume. Just plug your ears and hum.

Re: Epoxy patch on a polyester keel - 1973 Pearson

You're using an epoxy brand that I'm unfamiliar with. Many folks use West Systems epoxy.

Still, if your sources are correct about the waterproofing, you'll be fine. Secondary bonds between epoxy...

Re: Chesapeake Bay Anchor Holding Power test

Indeed. It sounds like Brian is saying that the Fortress isn't suitable for most sailboats since we lack the necessary engine power to properly set the anchor.

Yet here he is, announcing to the...

Re: Chesapeake Bay Anchor Holding Power test

There's no doubt in my mind that a Fortress anchor will hold well in 90% of the Chesapeake, and offers some of the best weight to holding power ratios available.

Unfortunately, I have about as...

Re: Music Etiquette at the Dock

Hm...let me clarify a bit:

I don't have cockpit speakers and will never install them. My cabin stereo barely outputs at a level that can be enjoyed up in the cockpit and I have no plans to change...

Re: Music Etiquette at the Dock

Gary-

If you have a young woman with you, and can hear her speak, then you haven't lost your high frequency hearing.;)

Marinas are inherently noisy.
People blabbing while walking...

Re: New Sails arrived any tips?

Does your new jib have spreader reinforcement patches?

If not, get some immediately, before using the sail.
My crew managed to punch a spreader right through the leech of my genoa last night.

Re: How many P-30's still on the water?

Where in southern Jersey are you?
I'll be sailing around Delmarva with a probable stop in Cape May, in August.

Re: Poplar Island Narrows

I think at high tide, really hugging the red marks, you could still make it.

Re: Help me plan my cruise North!

Hearing about your trip is inspirational. I've long been planning to cruise north.
I can probably take as much as a month off from work with no fuss from the boss. If you can do it in two weeks,...

Not when you're maneuvering at the dock, or swinging on an anchor.

Re: Inflatable Boat Airfloor Replacement with Plywood

Two-

That looks fantastic except that it's a bit large to stow.
It could use some hinges or to be sectionalized in pieces.

Re: Boat Sitting - Is it really an outrageous proposition?

Ok, thanks for clarifying that you're looking to PAY, not be PAID in this arrangement.

It still changes nothing. My boat is a very personal part of my life, more personal and more precious to me...

Re: How many P-30's still on the water?

MM-

Love the gray non-skid. Very classy.

I can tell you that the P30 fleet on the Chesapeake is alive and well. The P30 racing class was quite vibrant until it fell apart around 2001 or so....

Re: 2014 Sailing Season

My club held a short race around some gov't marks near Thomas Pt. Light. The breeze was a consistent 7 knots.

On one hand, I love a little race that's close to home. On the other hand, the water...

I'm curious to hear your opinion on how it sails. It looks like a wedding cake, but it might perform better than one would think.

Re: Cruising chute...keep or sell?

Take your skills to the next level and learn how to fly it.

An assym is easier to fly singlehanded than a traditional symmetric. No pole involved, and you can buy a sock to set and douse it with...

Re: Tiller or Wheel for Solo?

Whether or not you need automated steering depends on the length, frequency and complexity of your singlehanded operations.

If you're daysailing or running jib and main on longer sails, Evan...
