Re: Any safe way to buy a boat when neither of you live close?

What about a deposit that would normally be made when signing an agreement?
How one would handle this in a private transaction?

Re: Boat Inspection Trip Tips

Very helpful "sticky".

I would second dwblueblue suggestion about clarifying expected time to be there. Unless a deal braker is found fairly quickly....

If the boat is in my close proximity I...

Re: How high can you point?

Ken,
You probably meant "If I keep the vane outside the tabs all is well".
The vane between the tabs means your sails are luffing.

Re: A survey is not poetry

I have some limited experience, but I have bought so far 2 boats (1 with a survey) and had a couple more surveys done on boats I did not purchase.
Have also seen a number of different surveys as I...

A-frame to lift and lower the mast.

I've done the gin pole method using boom as a gin pole on my C&C24 and did not like the swaying as the mast is at the low position (boat in the water). While researching the stabilizing system i...

Sail Gate.

Alternative solution to the stoppers is installing a sail gate - no stoppers are needed and main slugs go all the way down allowing for reefing. Have a look on the cncphotoalbum site ----> Do It...

Jackline pics.

SD and TB: Thanks for the pics.
I think I get the idea: the slugs can move up/down in respect to the luff of sail so they can stay above the stopper while reefing.
Thanks again.

SD - would you happen to have a pic of this device?
I've heard about this but was not able to figure out how it looks/works.
I am working on my reefing system and need to tame those slugs falling...
