Re: Sailing Dog's Boat Destroyed By Fire

The point is noted and the Dog and I had more than our fair share of run ins but nah, to speak as if he deserved this is simply not on. Now if this thread was about the Dog's haemorrhoids flaring up...

Re: Another boat lost in Atlantic

I confess I think its a good idea Mark and I'll take it up with Admin. We mods only keep an eye on things and make suggestions for improvements. We don't actually design the forum layout.

Re: WiFi Connectivity On-Board

On board we mainly connect via our mobile phone plans which give us two gig a month free. I'm hard pressed to download more than that so it works well for us.

Of course if we were out of...

Re: Voyaging on $500 per month

The man has nailed it !!

As an example the Hiscocks went round something like three or four and a half times and from memory didn't even have a depth sounder or vhf until Wanderer IV.

Re: Wrapping a Steering Wheel

I doubt very much that Donna was attempting to stifle debate or block constructive feedback. To be frank I reckon most of us are like me and simply don't notice where we are (in a manner of speaking)...

Re: Wrapping a Steering Wheel

Does anyone ever notice ? I usually just do a "NewPosts - All New Posts"and comment in threads that somehow are of interest to me. I confess I didn't even notice this was in "HerSailNet".

Re: Wrapping a Steering Wheel

I must say I love the look of WinterRiver's job. Very nice indeed.

I fell in love with the whipped tiller/wheel look quite some few boats ago but the first time I tried it on a wheel was on our...

Re: What do you expect a watch stander to to.

Presuming fairly benign conditions then I'd not bother with tether or life jacket when in cockpit but insist when going forward. No one goes forward at night unless they are tethered and have a watch...

Re: Wind-vane now? Or wait for next boat?

We've got an Aries windvane and Raymarine pilot. Reality is that we only use the Aries when on passage. Other than that we stick with the AP.

If you are not passage making (and I'd consider any...

Re: The Ocean is broken? really?

I've met Ivan. We happened to be sharing the same marina just before he set off from Newcastle NSW to Melbourne Vic for the start of the Melb - Oaska race. The man's bullshite output is remarkably...

PMed you with full details.

Re: Contest/Game - Identify this picture

I'm going to be begging for some hints here.

I'd hazard a guess that we are in Uraguay and that is a river not a canal, but that is all I have got.

Then the man covered more than...

For mine, solar shower...
