Re: Yanmar super vibration

Have you actually checked your propeller? What you are describing is a classic symptom with a worn folding or feathering propeller or a bent blade on a fixed propeller.

Re: Deisel Engine Day Tank.

Actually this is quite correct and most definately not nonsense. Pumps have a problem sucking up and if you take the time to check manufacturers specifications on almost all types of pumps, the...

Re: Universal m4-30 engine will not accelerate in reverse, OK in forward Hurth selec

It is possible that some wear in the propeller is stopping it from opening fully in one direction. Has the prop been greased recently?

Re: Universal m4-30 engine will not accelerate in reverse, OK in forward Hurth selec

If the engine revs up normally in neutral, the issue is in the drive line. The first thing to check is that the prop is not full of growth and that there is no line or fish net around it and the...

Re: Cummins 4B 3.3

Hello JRD22,
The Beta 60 is not an electronically governed engine. The only electronic part of this engine is the stop solenoid.

Re: Universal 5432 Oil Pressure Sending unit

Be very careful! Having an oil switch and oil sender on one fitting with a T connector can lead to disaster. The fittings are too heavy and the vibration often causes the nipple between the block and...

Re: universal M4-30 engine fresh water pump

The V850 was made for Westerbeke and is an uprated version of the V800. You will find spares for the V800 at a Kubota engine dealer, not at a Kubota tractor dealer. You will find the list of Kubota...

Re: Volvo Penta MD7A started but shut off

Follow the instructions in your manual for bleeding the fuel system and then you will find that your engine works again. All the air that you introduced into the fuel system is now in the injection...

Re: Volvo Penta 2003 Transmission

The V stands for a V drive. You have the regular MS2 transmission.

Re: Sender units for Farymann

This engine only has a temp switch for a temperature alarm. Farymann never supplied a gauge.

There is no provision for an oil gauge as this engine is splash lubricated.

Re: Westerbeke W30/4-91 Idle Screw Assembly Needed, or engine for parts

eherlihy. Some Westerbeke engines are built on Mitsubishi diesels. In this case you are completely wrong and MARC is correct. This engine is a marinised British Leyland 1.5 liter diesel. Some parts...

Re: Paint

Interlux make a great paint called "bilgecote gray". This is a cheap solution and the paint is easy to apply and oil and grease resistant.

This could be caused by the injector. I suggest that you have it checked.

Re: Question on Volvo MD6A problems

That is the Volvo MS2 transmission. The seal is easy to replace but you may find the surface that it runs on has some rust which is what damaged the seal in the first place.

Remove the screw at...

Re: Question on Volvo MD6A problems

That price for an injection pump is completely out of order. It is about half the price of a replacement new engine complete with heat exchanger cooling, transmission, panel, mounts etc.(also comes...

Re: BorgWarner series 500 Gearbox

Borg Warner stopped supporting this transmission years ago. They didn't make many.

You may be better off looking at a replacement transmission from another manufacturer.

Re: Farymann Diesel A30M Fuel Lines

This is an easy job. The fuel supply lines have banjo fittings at the end and over the last 33 years the rubber hose has hardened up, hence your leaks. These are not high pressure lines.
1) Undo...

Re: Nanni Diesel 3.9h smoking and laboring

In that case, 95% of your problem is the dirty bottom and propeller. Haul the boat out and clean it properly and have new anti-fouling painted on. I suspect that you will then have good boat speed,...

Re: Nanni Diesel 3.9h smoking and laboring

One thing that you were not clear on. You state that you can only get to 2,000 rpm.
If you leave the transmission in neutral and hold the throttle wide open, what rpm do you achieve?

Re: How do I remove engine control?

Go to the back of the control and remove the center piece ( for the throttle cable) on the center shaft. Then push the throttle arm through the control into the cockpit.
