Re: Boat purchase!!

Some documentation services will take care of the complete transaction for a fee. Try Saxton documentation in Ft. Lauderdale, they've done it for us before. Also I believe BoatUS has the same type...

Re: Tacky West Systems Epoxy

Re: Surveyor recommendations in Stuart, Florida

We used John Banister of the company Suenos Azules out of West Palm. We have been a part of over 15 surveys both buying and selling and John was by far the best we have used.

Re: Our first good video

If you would donate $5 to me per video, I would be happy to critique your boat and sailing ability for the sole purpose of helping you have a successful cruise. Hey, experience costs:-). First...

Re: Resin like residue in bilge near both keel bolts

Where did the hose come from that looks like it has a wooden bung and wire ties wrapped around it? Could be something leaking from the hose or possibly a leak around your keel bolt. If the area of...

Re: Boot Key Harbor question.

We swim in Boot Key wether it's to cool of or clean the bottom, come to think of it, never seen a shark there. Also Barnacle Bill who's been cleaning boat bottoms there for the last 23 years has...

Re: Trouble with Bareboat Catamaran Anchor

Had a Danforth that had a slight bend in the shaft. Never would set right.
In 15' of water with 120' of chain out considering you probably had about 5' of free board would give you a 6to1 scope all...

Re: Mono hull to Cat

We have owned a few multis over the last 23 years so I'm well aware of the origin and meaning of roomaran. Still it's bad taste to refer to them as stupid.
Your right, upwind you would probably out...

Re: Mono hull to Cat

That's great, you made your choice because your boat suited you. Have you ever thought maybe the stupid people that bought the stupid roomarans bought them because that's what suited them? I wonder...

Re: Mono hull to Cat

I can partially agree. I think the problem with most of the bareboat catamarans isn't the boat but the skipper and crew. Let's face it, on a bareboat charter the crew probably has no experience with...

Re: Mono hull to Cat

I see you sail a Pearson 53 and my guess is most 53' cats would out sail you. So no you shouldn't have to plan on motor sailing the cat.....unless the cat you charter was designed as a motor sailer.

re: Stay away from Key Colony Beach...Sailing Related version.

That's because Boot Key and the City Marina have a pump out boat. I think you will find that both Key Coronary Beach and Marathon have restrictions against living aboard at docks of private...

Re: Mistake #4: *Getting the Wrong Catamaran for Your Voyaging Agenda.

Gemini should fit under all ICW bridges. Leopard under most, but would have some trouble in the panhandle of Florida.

Re: New marine air conditioning

I'm not sure who runs the company now, all I can do is relay the experience I had with the company. Yes ownership may have changed and hopefully it did.

Re: New marine air conditioning

Glad you had good luck with King-Air, our experience was the opposite. We purchased a 16,000 btu King-Air about 17 years ago. Installed it and the compressor was bad. King-Air refused to do anything...

Re: Florida Keys, Best Anti-Fouling

In the old days the Petit Trinidad red had more copper content than the other colors, not sure if that holds true today.

Re: Production Boats and the Limits

This is interesting, but I couldn't find such a detailed story on the PDQ site, just a small explanation maybe blaming a 650' Russian cargo ship for running them over. Do you have a link to the...

Re: Florida Keys, Best Anti-Fouling

I've had good results using Ameron ABC 3. It's a commercial ablative paint and usually runs $100-$125 a gallon.
