my opinion is that the post is not sealed within the top case of the battery and gasses are venting out.

Solid info by parrot ,the company i referenced is the only one i have found that lets you get all this taken care of "before" leaving the states. Hopefully more will come along with first hand...

Seems like the original poster has made his choice but fwiw there are commuter buses that go to DC,Annap.and Balt. that depart from the Kent Narrows waterfront on a daily basis.

More than likely where the threaded part of your bow eye is going to protrude into the boat will be in the "vee" formed by the stem. Unless you cut some blocking to flatten out and reinforce a spot...
